After visiting the park last weekend I was overjoyed to see the removal of autospiels from [nearly] all the rides. It looked like the employees were having a good time with their *newly* found ability to interact with guests too. It definitely looked like the employees were not miserable (like they did in 2005).
So for those of you currently employed, do you get the feeling that the removal of the autospiels has helped out the over all ride ops morale? Have you used it as an opportunity to reinstate ride pride or ride rivalries? If so, how?
Absolutely. This is one of the areas where CP has seemingly found Jesus this year.
Went last Sunday and the guy doing the speils on the gemini was terrific.
"We're going to send you up 121 feet, twist you turn you, turn you upside down so many times that....Ok, I'm lying!"
It's amazing what a difference such a minor change makes. Letting employees be themselves is a great idea.
I was there last Sunday. The ride-op on the Gemini was funny. I really enjoy the live spiel. I hate auto-spiels.
Some are needed i think. Esp rides like cad cars and Space Spiral esp my baby Space Spiral...hehe they make the spiel hella long and its timed sooo hard to get it right i was always like tripping over my words ......Giant wheel was my fav place to spiel. I sometime was like wellcome back riders how was ur ride on the extream wheel....just never curse in polish over the pa..it gets u in trouble....(inside joke)

I was surprised that even after park close waiting for Dragster, the guy doing the spiels was still having alot of fun with it.

The guy spieling on Dragster last night was awesome. He said "You're going to climb to the top of a 420 ft tall tower, then send you spiraling down 270 degrees, which is the perfect way to start off a first date."

Well i sure am havin fun with the spiels... But after awhile we all start to sound like a recording lol!
Im on the Mine Ride, every now and then i'll throw in something like this...
"Welcome to the mine Ride, built in 1969, the year we put a man on the moon!!"
"Or how bout the the year of the comeback Mets comin back from dead last to win it all!!!"
Im going to find more facts...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1969 There ya go some 1969 facts for ya via Wikipedia!!! I can't wait to go and hear the new spiels!!!
"If it looks good, you'll see it; if it sounds good, you'll hear it, if it's marketed right, you'll buy it; but... if it's real, you'll feel it."

does RipCord have any spiels?
Ripcord does have "spiels" that need to be followed such as "Do not pull the Ripcord till I say fly, once I say fly give the cord a good pull. Keep your arms connected until you fly through the arch, after that point you may spread your wings and fly."
However the only over the mic spiel is: "Flyers, your flight line is clear. 3-2-1 Fly"
Dont be like me and as a joke one day say "3-2-1 Die!"...
Yeah... my sup was standing by the gate at that time... oops.
All this was the summer after Vertigo fel...er... I mean was taken down due to mechanical reasons.

It's good to know the Magnum/Craptor rivalry isn't dead. I was worried last year as neither crew seemed to care! :)

I was On Wicked twister about a week ago, and the Ride op said, "Welcome to Wicked Twister where it's always morning, even in the AfterNo-Noon." I about fell on the station floor laughing and my friend had not seen Back to the future so he did not know why it was funny.
2008 visits = 38, 2009 = 19, 2010 = 11, 2011 = 14, 2012 = 10, 2013 = 14, 2014 = 14, 2015= 13, 2016 = 11, 2017 = 5, 2018 = 3
Hah! That was me! I'm glad you got a kick out of it...I've got many more tricks up my sleeve for this year!

Raptor- "Thanks for riding the Raptor..... And don't forget to stop by the Cedar Creek Mine Ride because, well, nobody else does! Enjoy your day here at Cedar Point, America's Rockin' RollerCoast."
Forget regrets, or life is yours to miss!
That would be me with the whole 'perfect first date' on Dragster. Always try to add something new and fun but yet stay within the limits. Glad you enjoyed it.

I really did notice it at Coastermania! They all seemed to be a lot more enthusiastic and happy with the freedom. I really noticed the competitive spirit during the ERT's. The ride-ops were constantly teasing about how much better their ride was than Raptor, (for example).
It reminded me back to 4-5 years ago when the ride-op at Iron Dragon was doing improvised, (...at least I think they were) ads for the parks slushies, proclaiming "...have you had your brain freeze today!?" He was a riot, and it helped with unusually long line for ID that day.
I'm so glad that manual spiels are back. I love hearing the employees being themselves, and of course joking back and forth with them is always a fun thing. It sounds like fun is coming back to the ride stations. Can't wait for an ill-timed launch on WT this week. :)

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
