I don't know, but I vote we keep Corkscrew just because i am in love with screw crew's shirts this year. Their ride night theme slips my mind..
Thats right, screw crew shirts! I dont think there WAS a theme for ride night... "after hours" doesnt really constitute a theme. If I was there for ride night it would have been something awesome, like prostitutes, because the guests pay us to screw them.
But back on topic, I think DT should go, only because I'm scared of it. And wave swinger too, for the same reason, lol.

I have a feeling since we're removing White Water Landing after this 05 season, my feeling is after the 2006 season, Disaster Transport will be out the door as well. I'm sure it would be replaced by something fun, what I don't know, but I'm sure you could fit a good GCI in that area of the park. Maybe the size of El Torro that Six Flags Great Adventure is getting.
DT could be salvaged if they actually put some money into the special effects. It was decent when it opened, but most of the effects are gone now. Still, I wouldn't miss it. I think I liked Avalanche Run better.
They could get rid of MS for all I care too. I rode it when it opened and it was really smooth and fun. Year 2 onward, the weathering must've got it all warped up because it's too rough to ride anymore. I'd need better health insurance before I'd even entertain the idea of riding it again, and I'm only 28.
CCMR could be reinvented if they put some mountains/tunnels on it. I always found it odd that it was a "mine" ride that never went underground. I think that would add an interesting new element to an old coaster, and maybe make it feel faster than it is. All that water underneath it would make that kind of tricky though.
I'd still be really surprised if they tore down an old coaster given their "most coasters" record. If they got rid of one, they'd have to put another in its place. If the attendance on a coaster is bad enough, I guess they'd have to do something.
This thread totally floors me. Usually we get the usual "What will CP build in 20XX?" thread around here. Now we get a "What will CP tear out in 20XX?" thread. Interesting.

They did. But they haven't lately, and they likely won't in the future. CP knows a lemon when they see one. Tear it down, build another inexpensive, possibly dark coaster in its place and call it a day. Why waste a lot of money on a ride that was never all that great to begin with?

Not that I think CCMR needs reinventing, I agree that its ridership might be improved somewhat with some effects that relate to the whole "mine ride" concept. Like, maybe some mines? Add some (above-ground) tunnels made to look like mines (make them out of industrial strength plastic or steel so they don't have the whole high-maintenance issue) and call it a day.
I'd still be really surprised if they tore down an old coaster given their "most coasters" record.
What's the point of having the most coasters on the planet if some of them never get ridden? Besides, any coaster removed only makes more room for the phrase we all love to hear: "future expansion". Also, I don't think CP is too worried about the whole "most coasters" thing.
I would love to see an awesome GCI where DT's future grave site is.

Personally...I rode Disaster Transport (even 'waited' for the front seat!) closing weekend...
...and I think that ride is still quite fun. It's "thrilling," it's fast, and it's unique. Sure, it's in a cardboard box. But nothing beats coming into a station being welcomed to Alaska.
Anyhow...I think it would be neat to have it returned to it's Avalanche Run days, but I like the darkness of Disaster Transport. It's still a fun ride in my book, and I know that "theming" isn't THAT important for the younger thrill-seekers.

Lol,vortex, I love Wild Cat it's a good get away from the big ol' coasters. I laugh everytime i walk by it and say that doesn't belong at cp..it's more like a carnival ride that comes to town every year. Hell i laugh when i get off of it too it's a good little ride for the young and young at heart.
Well I hate to spoil your fun, but Wild Cat is a carnival ride. If you look in the structure it is bolted into the pathway. It doesnt have footers in the ground like a "permanent coaster".
I will now return to my duties as a garbage man.

Wow...spoil all of our fun....and tell us something we don't know.
That is exactly what JONISNEO was talking about...the fact that it is different from the other coasters.
And guess what else...a lot of the smaller rides are "carnival" rides, too!
I noticed that too (it has no footers)
As of October 30, 2005, I have rode EVERY thrill ride at cedar point! Begining with the Raptor and ending with the Demon Drop.
Although I love Mean Streak, I think it would be the easiest to take out. All you got to do is light a match. ;)
Wildcat may be a carnival ride without any permanent footers, but it still kicks some major coaster butt.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
First, they should rent a couple helicopters and air-lift DT into the center...
$7.5M worth of kindling. ;)

Corkscrew is good for people who aren't quite ready for the loops/inversions of Raptor and Mantis.
Iron Dragon is a good ride for those not into the tallest and fastest coasters.
CCMR is also a good coaster for kids working their way up to the bigger ones.
DT, like Iron Dragon and CCMR is good for the kids working their way up to the bigger coasters, and people not into the tallest and fastest. It owuld be quite a bit better if they would actually fix the theming and special effects on the ride.
If DT were to go, there's a change they would keep part of the building. They use quite a bit of it for storage and the haunted house.
