Next major ride

What would be the point of that? You would have to shift perimeter road and cut into marina parking, move HR and the maria gate... for what? A new walkway with a built in bottleneck under Raptor?

Perimeter road will be moved as it has been done before, cedars will fall and when that happens what use will HR be in it's current location. Office space could easily be moved into Breakers near Resort and Franchise foods offices are or off point near the current dorms are in a location that makes sense. Moving the HR office is a great idea and maybe a nice building update as the current one is is suited for a trailer park. And the point of an extended midway is to drive some traffic to that section of the park...I feel like I have said this to you before follow the trends...also the Raptor "under pass" can be reworked.

I see now he said after Cedars was demolished-not before-but I think I deserve a break for misinterpreting his post as I do not generally read things written at a second grade level.

Regardless, it still serves no purpose to create another midway even after Cedars is demolished and perimeter road is rerouted. The only thing you achieve is limiting the area you gain for a potential attraction.

Nor does every section of the park need to have traffic driven to it; everybody here seems obsessed with making sure every corner is packed with people. Many of us actually enjoy the few remaining out of the way areas.

Alright a break is fair after reading the post again. New idea always use caution when post begins with "for"...

I agree I like quiet areas of the park, miss FT before Maverick was placed. However as a business move increasing traffic to the entire park allows for more places to make money. Let's all just agree put a new dark ride into Cedars and call it the death trap. Within a short time of ride Maint. In charge of it the building will seem like it's been through an earth quake and it will run great as long as no one plugs in a fan and a hair dryer at the same time.

Here is a interesting 2014 water attraction that would complement TTD quite nicely...

It's actually taller than what Cedar Point used to break the tallest coaster record just a few years ago!

(For me, Schlitterbahn is pretty close to the appropriate name too)

That scares the heck out of me. One wrong move..

I'm curious if they will use lims to control or "blast" you on the ride and hold you down, and any other safety features..

Looks like those that ride may want to wear brown swimsuits :D

I don't know but that better be a vehicle on some kind of in-track and not some slip and slide going down that enormous hill at 63 mph. I can't even...good heavens!

GCI appears to be proving that large traditional wooden coasters can be built on the same scale as MS. This coaster opens in 2015 in China.

Also here is another concept by GCI.

Assuming you can find three others with the guts to ride - the worlds tallest water ride will have you seated in a 4 person raft and their own in park invention that acts like LIM's (but with water taking the place of magnetism) is what will control your speed.

It seems there's been a revitalization with wood these last few years and I'm glad to see it. I don't know if I'm that impressed with the backward and forward wood coaster, though. I remember when they turned one of KI's Racer trains backward, it was all right, different, but nothing I'd consider real special. I prefer the sensations felt going forward myself.

Can someone tell me what LIMS mean?

^ LIM stands for Linear Induction Motor. They use a series of magnets to propel an object forward. Wicked Twister uses the system for its launch.

Going by the construction photo, it certainly looks like it is just a regular water slide flume. Taller than Gemini without any of the safety features of a roller coaster track - no thanks.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Doesn't Maverick also use LIM's on it's lift hill and in the tunnel?

^ Maverick uses LSM's.

The G-force at the bottom of the valley after the first drop has got to be intense... after all, you're still carrying more than enough speed to climb the hill that follows.

I imagine it has been designed so that a light weight adolescent is still heavy enough to carry momentum over the hill. I can only imagine how fast a 300 pound dude would be cruising... airtime!

I am excited that one of these is finally being built in the U.S. Maybe CP could break the 500' barrier with one and replace the Space Spiral at the same time.

I feel like this would be a bad decision for Cedar Point due to the fact that it would have a low capacity. I could just see this thing getting a ridiculous wait. Also I just don't want to hear people complain that there are so many trims on it.

If Cedar Point ever breaks the height record again, I hope it's a traditional style coaster. Maybe a 500 ft B&M hyper coaster.

I assume it looks something like this (from this slide's slightly smaller twin in Italy):

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

We're kinda reaching (reached) the point of general human endurance as a roller-coasting society aren't we? I mean, the bigger the coaster, the higher the g-forces, the greater the chance for white/blackouts and people not wanting to ride it as a result.

At what point does height race reach the point of diminishing returns?
