Next major ride

What do you think the next major ride will be? I think it will be in 2016. It would be were the cedar dorms, good time theater and turnpike cars or at. Or, remove snake river falls and have the ride sanke throught frontier town. I don't think it would be a wood coaster because mean streak keeps getting retract. So, i think it would be one of these 3: b&m dive coaster, b&m floorless coaster, premier rides launch coaster (like full throttle). What are your opinions or thoughts for a next major ride/roller coaster?

I doubt there will be a new coaster anytime soon. Maverick was 2007 and Gatekeeper was in 2013. I don't think we'll see another coaster until at least 2018. We'll probably get some new flat rides between now and then like 2014 is getting.

Underwater coaster to Canada.

I think we'll be surprised and see a new coaster relatively soon. SFGAM just built X-Flight in 2012 and now we're already seeing Goliath. Dollywood got Wild Eagle in 2012 and now they're getting Firechaser Express (a pretty awesome family coaster). I wouldn't be that surprised if we got a new coaster in 2015, even if it was just a new CCMR or some family coaster. I do think that if we don't see anything in 2015 that there will be another coaster in 2016. I think that the park will eventually get a new wooden coaster hopefully from RMC and possibly another B&M in the upcoming years. I don't see a floorless happening because GateKeeper essentially is floorless along with Raptor, which both do elements similar to a floorless coaster. A dive machine, or a flying coaster may be possible though.

Hopefully it would be a dive coaster. I rode griffon and its my seconded favorite roller coaster.

My opinion is that spelling and grammar are no longer being taught in our schools.

Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."

We try...

Spelling and grammar are still being taught. Students just aren't retaining it. And all the texting they do doesn't help.

It is still being taught

how would a premier rides launch coaster fit in with the park? something along the lines of full throttle but longer, taller and faster?

It'd be pretty similar to Maverick.

A woodie like 'El Toro' would get a lot of ridership. A 4 across sit down steel coaster(GateKeeper I don't consider a 4 across sit down coaster). 4 across floorless like the Geauga Lake/6 Flags Batman ride or Dorneys' Hydra. The GL/6F Batman was so-so,Hydra I love(the only ride I go to Dorney for). 4 acrossers like Kumba(don't like),Diamondback,Goliath(6FG),Intimidator(carowinds),and Nitro 6FGA(my favorite of the 4 across sit downs I've ridden). CP does not have a 4 across sit down like the other parks.

number of times to Cedar Point:50s/60s/70s/80s-3,1995-1,1996-27,1997-18,1998-13,1999-20,2000-16,2001-8,2002-7,2003-18,2004-14,2005-18,2006-28,2007-16,2008-17,2009-28,2010-26,2011-27,2012-21,2013-18,2014-24,2015-29,2016-46,2017-13,2018-14,2019-10,2020-0,2021-3 Running Total-483 72,000 miles traveled for the point.

I agree that the next logical locations for the next couple big coasters would be turnpike cars/cedar dorms area as well as the snake river falls area, I also think the next 2 coasters are gonna be the tallest dive coaster and a Rocky Mountain wooden with some awesome elements. Both of these have been proven to be major crowd pleasers so it will be up to Cedar Point to make them even better. What I'm trying to visualize is which would go where? If it's a dive coaster, it would look awesome taking the place of snake river falls as people could stand and watch as it hovers 250 feet above before a straight down dive into the pond. I could also see a Rocky Mountain wooden in this area fitting in with the frontier theme and snaking over the river and filling in space around and through milli island. On the other hand I think a dive coaster could be developed in and around turnpike cars area and possibly even crossing the midway to to a turnaround by the gold dorms area, similar to Diamondback through the center of a Kings Island, without being an eyesore. A wooden would have to stay tucked away from the midway but could definitely wrap behind the good time theater and fill in any and all that space from blue streak to millineum force.

For all those photoshop and rollercoaster builder buffs let's see some of these ideas visually and give cedar point some food for thought.

Rcoaster10 has done some great photoshop work in the past. He has some awesome ideas.

I know some people may disagree with me and say it would be too similar to Magnum, but I'd really love for the park to get a B&M hyper. It would be a completely different ride experience from Magnum. It would be taller, smoother, and just an overall fun ride. Plus it would be another high capacity ride (4 across or staggered seating). Diamondback at KI is one of my favorite coasters, and I would love for CP to get something similar. The park needs a new airtime machine, and a B&M hyper would be a great choice.

Pretty sure on raptor you sit down and are 4 across :)

Isn't magnum and marverick already airtime machines. I would also argue that bluestreak provides great airtime. Having airtime machines are nice, but there is no void in that area at this time.

a dive coaster could fit in snake river falls location and the antique cars location. actually, the antique cars wouldn't be removed because the layout could be modified to fit a dive coaster

Paisley's avatar

It would seem a litle odd to be riding the Antique Cars with a modern coaster diving around in the space.

Seriously doubt we're seeing any coasters until 2017/2018 at the earliest...
My bets? One: a dark ride of some sort....Two: A new observation tower in the old WIldcat area

If you've ever looked at the area that SRF takes from above, it's really not much. A RMC or dive coaster would be really hard to fit there. I think they should build a new log ride in the spot of SRF like the one at Knotts. Then possibly a new giant splashing ride over by soak city.

If the dark ride at Canada's Wonderland is a success, I see a version coming to Cedar Point in 2015.
