Next Demolished/Razed rides

That much??? Really???

I really should be working...
How about this: Move the playground to the current site of the petting zoo (I thought I heard something about it having to be removed because MF was disturbing the animals)and then move Wildcat to the current site of the playground. This would accomplish a few things.

1) I wouldn't know for sure, but I would think that younger kids would get antsy looking at the exhibits on frontier trail, and since theres little else for them to do there, the playground would be a nice little break for the kiddies.
2) If CP also razes Oceana and replaces it with a CCI (Inevitable, IMO) then that, Wildcat, and DT would give that Midway three coasters, effectivly revitalizing it.
3) CP can also use the current site of Wildcat for the station of a new coaster, if the old Cedars Hozel is razed then the lift of this coaster could be built there, and the main portion of the ride could be built on the opposite side of the peremiter road from MF

(Incoherent ranting ends here)
Not so bad incoherent rambling. It will be interesting to see what Cedar Point does in the next decade or more.

PO!NT OF VIEW - A Different Look at Roller Coasters

Lets see....there is room on the "Lagoon Island" for a station.....I also see room for a station on "Iron Dragons" little land tract on the "Power Tower" side and theres a little to the east of "Mean Streak" but CP will find a spot, you know they will....we thought they ran out of room and they threw in the worlds Tallest/Fasest coaster ; )
I think Troika will go next. That and the relocation of chaos will leave a fairly large area with some scenery (the lagoon) *** This post was edited by CP4LIFE on 7/25/2001. ***
If Cedar Point did take out the buildings between Mean Streak and Gemini there still won't be room for much. I could have seen then taking out the buildings before Lighthouse Point, but now there is no room back there.

I always thought it was kind of strange how buildings(Planning and Design, Marketing, Park Operations, etc.)are located throughout the peninsula. I could see Cedar Point maybe making a two story building around the current site of Marketing. Just expand the marketing across the small midway to the old administrator building. That would free up some space here and there and a a few rides could be moved around to get a good section of land for a new ride.

I think that one of the coasters in the next few years might have a Magnum type layout(ride starts in park then heads to land outside of the park).

NO! NOT TROIKA! DON'T YOU PEOPLE KNOW THAT CP READS THESE BOARDS! DON'T GIVE THEM ANY BRIGHT IDEAS! Troika is my favorite flat ride at CP, leave it alone. If you want to propagate the removal of any flat ride let it be Schwabinchen or Himalaya.
NO..NOT the Schwabinchen! I love that German lady!On a serious note, that was the first Cedar Point ride that my sister, Kathleen and I ever rode...:)

OK! OK! Schwabinchen can stay. I see your point. That lady with the Voluptuous breasts is to Cedar Point as the Big Boy statue is to Big Boy's restaurants.
hmmm ok if they just thought MF style with their planning/design buildings, etc. and built ^UP^ somewhere on the peninsula then that could also leave some room somewhere on the peninsula for a good ride.

also, isn't there a good ammount of room near and underneath the MF drop?

btw i've only been to CP once, so if I'm totally off with stuff, *lick* me.

First off you can kiss Schwabinchen goodbye, its moving to another park.

Second, Wildcat wont be moving anytime soon and they cant tear down all of cedars hotel because it's a historical landmark.

Third, say goodbye to the aquatic stadium, good show but a bad venue, we are tearin it down ! (can you say CCI)

Something new in the area between troika and corkscrew, possibly even something new on millenium island. Thats all for now, and I could replace the word 'something" with what it would actually be, but watching everybody in suspense is better.

(blueprints and ride manuals already in park for one new ride !)

Milly Laps....uh ?
ahh, they're really moving schwabinchen?? Aside from the lady, I actually like that ride.
WOW!! It amazes me how some people know it all!
Aside from the lady, Jessrina? That's the best part of the ride ;)

mikey :)
Just because the old Cedars Hotel is a historic landmark (is it really?) doesn't mean they can't tear it down. The Breakers was a historic landmark and they tore most of it down...in fact, the landmark distinction might be removed from it. Do you think CP cares?

Anyways, everytime I go to the Point I give that area a good look (Cedar Hotel that is). If they tore it down and moved the perimeter road a little, you would have a good chunk of land for a major coaster.
I worked at CP for 5 summers, 90-94, and each year there has always been talk of them tearing down cedars! Unsure if they will do it. They say there isn't enough room off the point to rebuild the dorms for employee's! The open feilds next to Breaker's express is reserved for the second phase of Breaker's express. If they were to build a very large office building off the point, enough to house everything they have on the point, they could easily tear down several large buildings, enough to build some very large attractions!
We all have to remember that CP is amazing in choosing the location for their rides. Can you imagine Raptor or Magnum anywhere else? How about Mean Streak? Or Blue Streak?

They're not going to just stick a ride any place.

I told my daughter that "Schwabinchen" means "Everybody get drunk and show your underwear"! It's a family joke now. It would be a shame if they moved that ride.

What does Cedar Fair do with these old rides they take out? Do the junk them or move them to other parks??
I would not be surprised if they remove Corkscrew within the next ten years. The ride is so old and rough anymore. Plus there is usually no line for it even on the busiest days, and maintenance is out there spot welding the joints back together every night. I have a feeling that this ride is nearing the threshold of impracticality and not worth operating any longer. Yes, they would be one coaster less and lose the world record, but we have to look at this from a safety, attendance, and most importantly, an economic standpoint.
