Maybe he meant try not taking a shower and people will stay away from you at Publix and Target. :D

Ah got it. Probably so. I've had a copious amount of alcohol today so it didn't stand out to me that way. :D

A small percentage of people bring backpacks into the park and because of that it's a very easy policy to enforce.

Have you ever been to any amusement park recently? Whenever i'm in a park it seems like 60% or more of people have some sort of bag that requires being placed in lockers. Looking at the 12-18 crowd it seems to be more like 80%.

However, these are just my observations and i do not claim them as fact.

Just that I wouldn't say its a "small percentage" at all.

That's very easy to observe up front right at the security checkpoint. There's lots of people waiting in the bag line while I just go to the bag free line and basically get right through because there's not many people waiting in that line.

I would love to know how many hours of my life have been saved by no bag lines.

People bring bags because they are influenced by the anti-cargo shorts crowd at the NYT and Buzzfeed. 😡

I'll still never understand (outside of going with children or having a medical need) why anyone needs a backpack full of gear. I can't even fill up cargo shorts with what I normally bring with me. Maybe it's a comfort thing?

Yeah, comfort. It takes a lot to keep a snowflake safe.
Keys, wallet, and phone, what else would you possibly need for a day at the park?

A lot of it is conditioning , particularly for people who have taken theme park vacations down in Jeff's neighborhood. For those of us who frequent Cedar Point, we know that we can take a minimal amount of stuff into the park, and if we have to visit that four-wheeled storage locker that we brought with us, it really isn't a huge problem. It can be a pain in the neck, especially with the "security" checkpoint, but it is a fairly short walk. It doesn't involve navigating a circuitous route within the park (it took me half an hour to figure out how to get out of Sea World San Diego, and I was already at the entrance plaza...), nor do you have to take a speedramp, a monorail, a ferry boat, an escalator, a magic carpet, a parking lot tram and a ten minute hike just to get back to your car only to reverse all that so that you can wait in the medical tent, the security line, the ticket validation line, the entrance queue and then finally end up back inside the park at the opposite end from where you want to be. On top of that, at *those* parks you might not even have a vehicle, so anything you could *possibly* need while you are in the park, you had better carry with you. And of course there are the guidebooks, you know, the ones that have a suggested packing list that looks something like those recommended supplies lists for children in primary school, only quite a bit longer. So you've got the bag and it contains all your stuff...a little money, your camera, your car keys, a change of clothes, perhaps swim gear, a towel (because it's the most amazingly useful thing you could have), a jacket, a phone, maybe a book to read in line, an umbrella, medications (prescribed, OTC, and "other"), your personal copy of the nuclear launch codes ("00000000")...you can see how all this stuff starts to add up. Plus if you win a cute little white bear playing Bowler Roller on the midway you'll need some way to carry him around.
Plus, when it is early in the season, a lot of people arrive at the park not in little four-wheel storage lockers, but in big yellow 6-wheeled carriages to which they will have no access until the end of the day.
Yeah, we've learned how to economize on the crap we carry around. But some people either have different needs from us, or simply don't have the options we do.

I usually bring my own small water bottle. And sometimes a small notebook.

We can bring a football into the park?

Really good points though. I'm trying to change how I handle my days at the park this year when it comes to gear.

You obviously got the old codes. The new ones are: 1 ... 2... 3... 4... and 5

Interestingly enough, that is EXACTLY what it was like. Matter of fact that whole scene was shot in the trainer at the base I was stationed at (minus a few classified drawers that were removed so they wouldn't' be caught on camera).

It's one of the few scenes in that movie I can watch without wanting to scream or throw things at the TV screaming "THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS!!"

I've always wondered. Did they actually have revolves to use in that situation? I definitely see the purpose if so but being a movie I've always doubted it a bit.

Yes, the officers were armed.

The part that didn’t make sense to me is if he did shoot him, then what? Unless he had Elastigirl powers he wouldn’t have been able to reach both keys to turn at the same time, if indeed they needed to be turned simultaneously.

It's somewhat misleading in the movie.

It actually requires a total of 6 keys to be turned (3 Launch Control Centers "LCCs") for a launch. The "home" LCC and two others. If the site has been "compromised" because someone refuses to turn their keys or other reason, the home LCC is taken out of the loop.

This I still have my team chief hat here somewhere.

I'll stop here as this is not Minuteman II Buzz. ;)
