I can see it now - "They didnt announce the 500ft coaster with green track because they dont want someone to copy it. They will announce the BIG coaster in February like they did with TTD"
Platinum has it's perks. So does living exactly 97.5 miles from King's Island and Cedar Point

They will likely roll-out the majority of the web updates within minutes of the actual announcement. It's possible they'll add more throughout the day, but not likely.
Why do you keep going on about this as if you know what's going on?
As with every announcement, and even the announcement about the announcement, the release goes out in the mail the day before. The morning of the announcement they post on the Web. It's not that complicated.

Jeff,
I was not intending to sound like I knew exactly how everything went. I have, however seen quite a few things announced on cedarpoint.com over the years.
With that experience, I was hoping to respond to the following question posed by Paradroid with some reasonable certainty about how the website will be updated.
After the announcement, I wonder how long time it takes, before we can expect them to have an animation of the ride on their website? Morning, afternoon, next day?
Unless my memory fails me, all of the web content for the announcement is rolled out at the same time (just like you said). Since I am no expert, I also said that it's possible that they would add more content after the first phase. Like when they changed MF's logo on the page for its announcement.
I 'kept going on' because there was still an unanswered question I thought I could help with.

I wouldnt count on it!
Why'd you think I followed that sentence with
giving way to the pandemonium that will follow the announcement.

perfect placement for the announcement, right before the weekends in sept. and halloweekends. Its a great marketing stint to "get your previews of next years ride before anyone else" Im a marketing person, and i thought thisall year that this would be the perfect time to boost attendance at the end of the year, and now they have confirmed my inclination!!!
Unfortunately, announcing during the season can have the unintended effect of declining attendance. People who haven't been there this year (and don't really follow the park, yes these people exist) may see the announcement and decide to wait until next year. No point in going this year, when the next big thing opens next year.

Jugga, while I agree that announcing during the season can hurt attendence, they are also announcing at the beginning of the bonus weekends. I'm fairly confident that if a family was planning a trip in a few weeks to do CP and the Halloweekends stuff, that they wouldn't put it off 12 months.
I think it would be hilarious if they announced this ride as Kings Island did with Tomb Raider the Ride.
CP: Hello all, We are thrilled that you could come. We are here to announce the new attraction for 2007!
Media & drooling enthusiasts: Yes, YES, YESS!!!
CP: After much anticipation we'd like to announce Maverick, a totally immersive ride experience that will open for 2007!
M&DE: What does this do?
CP: It is Maverick, a totally immersive ride experience! *long pause* Thank you for coming!
M&DE: But wait! How tall will this ride be? How fast will it go? How many times will it go upside down?
CP: Maverick will be a totally immersive ride experience. *long pause again* Thank you for coming!

That's kind of funny. An announcment for an announcment.

Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.
I find it amusing how they have Snoopy pulling the banner. Looks like I'm going to have to get up early. I hate doing that. :)

It's kind of funny how the announcement date is my birthday.
If this thing is going fast through the layout it has now, I'm already excited.
2007 hear I come...
^^Ditto....except if I'm getting up early to go to CP, in which case I love.:)

^One of the advantages of staying at a CP resort and going to the park in the morning. :)

Get it right, it was a "totally immersive dark ride experience!"

^^Precisely! My stay at Breakers Express was great....and a relief that I didnt have to wake up at 5:50 just to get to the park before 9.:)

Are you planning on going that day? We kind of struck out in meeting on Saturday. I was by Dragster around opening time, I didn't see you. Oh well! This is definately good news, I won't have to scratch my head and wonder any more. After seeing the 0 G Dive, I thought to myself the annoucement has to be close. So I started telling everyone that I betcha it will be after Labor Day that they annouce the new coaster.
