I don't care what you call it if its any kind of a roller coaster (witch I think it is) I will be happy.
RIDE ON, and ON and ON and ON and ON and ON...
Isn't it obvious? The new ride is going to be called "Bear Foot." The irony is that you'll have to wear shoes... ;)

Anyone have more possible names?

Why is everyone going with "Bear"? To me it just sounds like the word play was just "a-foot"... for footer. Notice they leave us to jump to the fact that it is a footer. I dont think "Bear" has anything to do with it.
Also, is anyone familiar with the type of footer this is or what it could be used for? (B&M track, Intamin, Flat ride) *** Edited 3/4/2006 2:11:17 AM UTC by Alexandersco***

I couldn't guess about the manufacturer but I'm sure we can rule out wood. By the way, I'm sure it'll still be called Maverick.

I did think of Bearclaw for a name. I doubt that it would be that though. I actually think it could be a wooden coaster. The thing sticking up looks like it will bolt to a piece of wood. The only thing that would make me believe otherwise is that it is circular, unless they invented a circular wooden beam.

Maybe a combo of Son Of Beast an El Toro(with out a loop) now that would be cool. I think that it is too close to MS to be another woodie but who knows.
A bare footer... It is partially uncovered.
From what I can see it's not small by any means. How big it is remains to be seen. I've never heard of a B&M that takes this long to put in. Heck, TTD started in April of 2002. I don't yet see explicitly why they would be starting this soon.
Since SkyHawk is an S&S ride, Cedar Point obviously is ready to do business with them again. S&S is building the second 4-d right now. I think it's possible Cedar Point could be getting a 4-d for 2007. This would partially explain why they are starting this soon. They could have more time for dynamics testing when the ride is complete.
Since they are pouring at least major foundations now, they could be ready to start full scale installation for weekend operations.
I don't yet see explicitly why they would be starting this soon.
Maybe they're just taking advantage of the relatively mild weather.

Gee welcome to my favorite time for new ride construction. Pictures of dirt. UGHHHHHHHHH
I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.
OMG!! I just got home from work and MAN what a welcome home present!!:)
::calming down::I think 3 footers are visable from the picture. The big one, one in the top lefthand corner and one in the very top lefthand corner. And by the looks of the footprints in the dirt, the main footer might be somewhere around 3 feet long and 6 feet wide (or at least whats visable in the picture). So this is a serious footer. Add the time, acutal amount of footers (being that there could be more than 3) and the size..... and this really is turning out to be something big.
I think a water coaster is out. With that being said, we are left with: A monster 500+ footer, or a dueling ___________(and I think something else).
And this is a wild guess but I'm going to be as bold as to say that the footer almost looks like something a B&M coaster would use. If you dont believe me look at some of Tatsu's footers (the biggest of any I've ever seen on a B&M). But again that's just a wild guess. It could be for any kind of coaster; Intamin, B&M, Vekoma, S&S arrow, etc.
This is getting more and more and more exciting.....and it's only March!!!!
