News: CEDAR FAIR, L.P. TO ACQUIRE PARAMOUNT PARKS

I agree. I would really hate to see some of the great talent leave Cedar Point for other parks.

Will Paramount Parks CocaCola change to Cedar Fair Pepsi?

MY FAVORITE IS PEPSI. But CocaCola is awful taste.

I am deaf person and American Signs Language and have Cerebral Palsy. I don't care about somebody said that edit and english.

Yes, the Coke will most likely change to Pepsi. Now what are the odds we could get Disaster Transport rethemed to Star Trek? (or anything!)

This is wicked finally Canada's Wonderland can be a decent park!!! The only good rides there are Top Gun, Tomb Raider and Italian Job! I am hoping that they pull out a couple of crappy rides and put in a mf like ride so i can go every weekend not just twice a season! Diaster Transport done as star trek would be cool!!! "Space the final frontier these are the voyages of the star ship enterprise" They need to make disaster faster as well its starting to suck~

Distance to Get there = 500 miles
Waiting in line for seasons pass = 20 minutes
Being reunited with Wicked twister = Priceless!!!

There's a better chance of Disaster Transport being demolished for "future expansion" than there is for it being re-themed.

Brandon

Demolished?!? NO!!! We'll take it up here in Michigan and re theme it to a Snoopy/Red Baron theme. That would be a great addition to MiAdv!

MrScott (Who would also love it to be re themed to Star Trek)

We just need the ride though. You guys can keep the warehouse.

Hey, I'd love to see it re-themed to anything, including a space trip to Alaska gone bad. But, in light of its treatment in recent years, I don't see it being a CP mainstay.

And I do like the idea of it going to MiAdv. They could scrap the building and return it to its original glory.

Brandon

Yep, DJ...there is no beach sand to worry about and I don't think the noise would bother anyone up here.

This article was pretty informative.

I quote from the section, "A potential cloud hangs over the purchase, however. Mr. Kinzel said the firm would study whether to keep its headquarters in Sandusky or move to Paramount's new building in North Carolina."

I would be very dissappointed and upset if the Cedar Fair HQ was moved down to North Carolina. There HQ has been in Ohio since it has exsisted and now the possibility of it up and leaving for some new comer to the game?? Some have metioned how North Carolina has golf, if potential investors come to visit your company, you wouldn't take them out golfing, you would take them to your amusement parks, because that is your product your offering. Cedar Point is the flagship, you would want to take these investors to your best park, wouldn't it make sense to keep the HQ here?? I really can't believe this is even being considered. Cedar Point with annual visitors of 3.5 million compared to Carowinds with 1.9 million. MF, TTD, Magnum, WT, and Raptor against the Borg and North Carolina Racer?

Also mentioned in the article is the accquisition of Paramounts licensing with Nickelodeon. Looks like the characters will remain in Paramount parks and Mr Munarriz perdicts that Camp Snoop may soon bite the dust...very interesting. Instead, we'll have Camp Spongebob.

According to the article, we also get Star Trek and Batman, although it mentions Cedar Fair may not keep these two. *** Edited 5/23/2006 2:50:28 PM UTC by ejh1701***

You take customers/investors to whatever they want. If they want a round of golf, you take them golfing, if they want a fancy dinner, you take them to dinner. If you're trying to sell them something (and you are) and there are other places for them to buy, you do whatever you can to get that person to buy what you're selling.

My point is, there trying to sell themselves, that is the amusement park. You take them inside your park and show it off.

Batman? I thought that was WB and Six Flags... man... Batman is the coolest super hero, *sigh*

I hope CP does not start to name/theme their attractions with respect to the acquired licensing. CP's rides are good enough to stand on their own, and gives the park its own identity. I'm not saying that keeping the licensing at the other parks is a bad thing, as that is their identity.

I do, however, support the idea of bringing in the acquired licensing to the kid's areas in some form. That is just too good of an opportunity to pass up, IMO.

Speaking of which, does Paramount own the rights to the Berenstein Bears(sp)?

When they say the 1.2 billion dollar transfer is in cash, do they mean actual cash bills or is it something like stock or a big check? Sorry if this sounds stupid, I am just clueless.

It's rolls of quarters. You will be amazed how many trucks it will take to deliver the load.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I'm the one who first brought up the golf and I was being sarcastic. If the CEO/COO were huge golfers then they might want to live somewhere where one could golf year 'round.

A City I previously worked in built a state of the art tennis facility. The mayor, as luck would have it, was a tennis player. If he had been a golfer we would have bought a golf course that was up for sale at the same time.

I agree that it would be good to bring some of the Nick characters to the childrens area. Unfortunately, Snoopy and his friends just aren't mainstream like Dora, Spongebob, etc. I'm all for that, but I want the HQ right here in Ohio, where it has been and where it belongs.

Trip Count 2003: 13 2004: 24 2005: 22 2006: 25 2007: 25

In regards to the Nick vs Peanuts characters, I think Peanuts is more of a solid main stay than Nick. Snoopy and Charlie Brown are classics just like Cedar Point. Nickoloden is a trend that will never be the same type of classic as Peanuts.

As for the HQ, as an Ohio resident I want it to stay to help our state economey. It has been mentioned above also that Cedar Point is the flagship park so it is only fitting that we keep the HQ in Sandusky.

The Nick characters that were around when I was growing up aren't known or remembered by anyone today. Snoopy is. I believe Snoopy is still somewhere in the top 10 most recognized cartoon characters. I doubt Sponge Bob is on that list, or has the power to stay there for years to come.
