New working @ CP...QUESTIONSSSS!!!

Okay, for example, no matter what 'apartment' i will be living in...is there a way i will be able to have a computer in my room, with the internet? i know someone who lived in commons did..but i didnt know if that was the same for everyone...and is the phone included..like the bill? haha...sorry i know the questions are dumb but i know NOTHING
Yes you can have your ccomputer with you no matter where you live. You can hook up to internet. But that is on your own, as in paying for aol or what not. As long as you have a local dialup number you should be ok.. You can't charge telephone charges to the park. The park does offer free access in the rec center. Its hard to finda free computer but is well worth it if you rather leave the comp at home and save on ISP charges.

You forgot to mention Jen..

If you DO bring it and have either a local ISP or AOL or something. The ablity to get a phone line out can be a chore. Usually worse right after the park closes because everyone is trying to either get online or call thier friends.

The problem can be increased even more depending on where you live. Commons/Cedar/Gold dorms you'd stand a better chance because you'd only have 1 or 2 other room mates.

Bayside equals more roommates.. so more people who want to use the phone.

Commons Apartments.. don't even think about it. 15 people. One phone line.. Do the math..

Another way to do it is hook up your cell phone to your computer.
From what I know i'm sure cp has like a T1 connection for their big-wig offices... If you could get into that you'd be home free.

The way the phones work is that you can make local calls as well as calls to the Park and any of the other dorms/apartments for no charge. If you want to make a collect call or call long distance, then you will need to get a calling card.

okay, so basically...hmm i dont have aol here, i just have a local internet company, aol is not supported in my town...so hmm... maybe i will just..... not bring my computer... haha, but alot of calling cards cuz i have sooo many friends online and in person
That sounds like your best bet unless you want to get an ISP in Sandusky for the summer.

Several of the local ones have deals for CP employees.

Yeah, a good calling card is a must. Make sure you get a quality one though, and not one of those cheap ones that run out in no time at all. I think the ones you get from the phone companies are good. Make sure you know whether or not the card has a limit. (Well, you're probably not an idiot like I am. My first year, my dad gave me a calling card to use. I thought it was a really good one, because it never seemed to run out. I was happy, until I realized that it um, was one of those cards where apparently you get billed as you go. I ran up over $1,000 on my dad's phone bill in three weeks, completely unaware).

beware that squirrels may chew threw the cable/wire and seagulls will poop on the repairmen. Those 2 animals are true communistst and must be eradicated. LOL
i'm just basically scared.. i hear good and bad storys about the dorms...whast your OPINION on them?

i mean... are they basically like a bunked bed dorm room

Sandusky has a dial up number, just remember you have to put in the 9 to dial out when you hook it up.

Here's the deal on the dorms. Yes they are small, crampped, and kind of barren. On the other hand you're only in them for about 8-10 hours at a time TOPS. And during that time you're going to want to be sleeping. Trust me on this, depending on your department you're going to be working 50-70 hours a week. That doesn't leave much time to be hanging out in the dorms. All the rest of the time most employees hang out with there friends, go play in the park, if they have a car go see some sites etc. There's lot's to do, and you're not going to be in the dorms that much so don't worry about them. This is also a reason not to bring your computer, because you won't really have a lot of time to use it. I know this from experience. Hope this helped.

If you have a Sam's Club near you and your parents are members, you can get an 1,000-minute phone card for about $30. This lasts quite a while, at least for me. Then, when it runs out, all you have to do is follow the instructions on the back of the card to refresh it...I just tell my dad when I'm almost out of minutes, and since he has a copy of the instructions at home, he can refresh it with his credit card and I can immediately use it again. (Wow, only $30 for 1,000 minutes of long-distance phone calls! My dad likes that...) Because of this, I've had the same phone card since my freshman year of college, so I've just kind of naturally memorized the numbers -- now, I don't always have to search around for the card when I see the phone is finally free! Nice!

This might sound dumb, but can someone list for me which hosuing is off point and which housing is on point? That would really help me to decide where I want to live! Thanks!

It's an OLD story that doesn't need to be told anymore.

If you search on this site.. I'm sure you'll find it.

Another thing you might want to look into...if you can trust your roommates you might think about a cell phone. while this involves a monthly charge for a specific number of minutes, i lived on no phone in college for 3 yrs. but before you do this find out about how trusting you are of your roomies. cell phones (at least in my experience) have been the best value in long distance calling if you get the right one, and you dont have to fight for an external line (wait till about july at 11pm-3am where all the external lines are filled. *personal opinion*
Even if you got like a Trac Fone (pay as you go cell phones) it would be well worth it.
