^Ya it will be different looking at all these updates vs a new ride. Looking forward to that Magnum sign. It is going to be a busy day on magnum for Opening Day. Lot of buzz with that ride this off-season. If i was not working at the point it would be my first ride of the season just like the last couple of years!!

I don't think this is the same type of led lighting that you are thinking of Kevinj.Dollywood uses christmas led lights, cp is probaly going to use led par can lighting or something to that effect.
Ok, so I guess you dont understand what LED lights are. There is no difference in what type of LED it is. Whether its a PAR lamp in a can or a "christmas style" as you call it. Light Emitting Diode is what it is not matter the style you are thinking about. I was just at the Point a few weeks ago and they are looking at replacing quite a few fixtures over to LED. Such as some of the post tops on the main midway. If you want to see some of there ideas goto www.betaled.com They have some of the most new designs that going green would be to a big park like CP and their other parks.
I have to say, I was very happy when I saw the last picture of the entrance plaza torn up. I really, really, really, really hope that the eyesore of a merch stand does not return in the middle of the plaza! I've always thought it would be pretty cool if they were to do something similar to the Wicked Twister entrance area, and it sounds like that may be what they are doing. Unfortunately Tony didn't mention pavers, so I doubt it will get the nice paver treatment.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
The BIG issue I can see with many of these improvements is the park's historical failure to upkeep and maintain displays/fountains/lights etc...let's hope they keep this in mind and actually keep everything running.
Overall though, much needed on the display end, and a new sign for Magnum long over due, but the timing works with the anniversary.
Looking forward to seeing it all...

No, the merch stand is definitely gone, as that picture is most certainly taken from the far right side (looking towards the gates) of the ticket booths. Even if they don't do anything other than just pour some new concrete, I think it would look better without that thing sitting there in the middle like a sore thumb.

New monitors at queues displaying park information?Sounds like somebody's been paying attention to Pointbuzz . . . :)
Sadly, they are installing these monitors at the main entrance turnstiles, and not at ride entrances, if I'm reading it right:
Plus, we're adding an all-new LED message sign above the turnstiles along with four LCD tv monitors to display park information.
Hopefully they'll expand this concept to ride entrances sooner, rather than later.

Did anyone else notice from this pic posted on the blog that they've also cut down the trees by the Magnum entrance? If it didn't have the caption mentioning that they were installing a Magnum sign, I might not have even recognized it.
