Why? Someone watching the commercial for Knott's is not going to know those kids are in the commercial for Carrowinds or Cedar Point. Heck, you would have no idea they were in all of the commercials if it weren't for you being an enthusiast who looks for these commercials on YouTube.
My favorite commercial by any theme park so far this year is Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It shows great footage of the park + a great song by The Stunners. I love The Stunners and the commercial so it was a good fit.
Cedar Point's new commercial is just ok. It was probably a $2000 budget for all the parks on that commercial. They could have gotten some park footage and used a little Sony Vegas instead of a random guy dancing and the kids holding boxes and signs. The green screen effects with the boxes and stuff was just plain stupid. If they could use the commercials from last year, that would be better.

^^It is because they are all the same that I didn't go and look up the others. I'm simply implying that, even if I wasn't an enthusiast or "coaster/YouTube nerd", I would have noticed that they were exactly the same. I know that someone from Cali wouldn't notice, and that is most likely why they didn't change it around.
^Great example of SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment vs. Cedar Fair. That Busch Gardens commercial was really good. I still do like the Ride Warrior commercials, even if they aren't always "park accurate."
I apologize for not reading the fine print in the rules. It is clearly in Article XVII Section V that "All coaster enthusiasts must search and watch all comercials pertaining to a certain company and then disregard everything that was seen in said commercials before making a post on this site." My bad. ;)

That point I was making is how would you (or the GP) have noticed that a commercial for Canada's Wonderland was the same as Kings Island when you are not going to see a commercial for both in the same market. The only parks that might come close is of course Kings Island and Cedar Point. Those in central Ohio could see both IF each park is running the same ad. Otherwise you, I or anyone else is not going to see commercials for multiple parks without looking them up online. This is how and why they will make one commercial for multiple parks.
^^I'm in a market where I see Cedar Point and Canada's Wonderland commercials. I recognized the kids in both commercials. I will now boycott the chain because they didn't use different kids in the commercials.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I live in the Dayton, Ohio region. Today as I was watching TV when I saw a Kings Island commercial with the "fun and only" slogan. Directly following that commercial was a Cedar Point "fun and only" commercial. I found it hilarious. Also the computer animation for STR does not look very good in commercial form...
Also "Canada's Wonderland" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W83a7rsYhDE) does not flow to well in the new commercials LOL. If Cedar Point is going to use the "fun and only" slogan atleast use a commercial like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2Av4VgXhy8 looks way better IMO.

Like I said, this is the only region I thought this would happen in. I really didn't think Canada's Wonderland's market would run in to Cedar Point's but I guess it does, Vince. Between the park and Detroit is almost 240, maybe 250 miles? I guess I didn't think Canada's Wonderland had that large of a market area. Then again it makes sense for them too.
99er, there is another way of seeing / hearing the same ads for the different parks besides looking them up on-line. People do travel too.
Case in point, last season the chain did re-use a lot of the same audio for their ads for their Halloween events across all the parks. Last season they blasted the northen OH airwaves with radio ads for Halloweekends at CP. (The one with the kid, werewolf, and ghost) When I visited my cousin in NJ for her wedding last fall I instantly recognized the same beginnig lead in on a radio ad for Dorney Park advertising their Halloween Haunt event. (My first reaction at the time was "Why are they running a CP commercial in NJ?" till I heard the change in the spiel they did about 1/2 way through to fit it for Dorney Park.)
I understand Cedar Fair wanting to reuse ad campaigns across different parks to leverage some cost savings on ad production. But honestly, the "fun & only" spots with the crappy green screen effects with the boxes and the random kids dancing across all the parks are just plain bad (particularly the CP one). Heck even the reuse of the radio ad for the Halloween events last year that I mentioned above were 100 times better than that piece of junk. Can you at least get some other shots of the park and what is has to offer in there besides just trying to shoehorn the animation of STR in there?
I hate to say it, but Cedar Point's commercial this year is embarrassing (it makes it feel cheap). I did like the second link MillenniumFan94 posted of the CW commercial ... it was better than the piece of crap CP is using. I have generally always liked their ads, but most also highlighted multiple rides and shows throughout the park. It kind of seems stupid to use the slogan "the fun and only", but then use it for all the CedarFair parks ... obviously NOT the fun and only. Point is ... what is a commercial used for? ... I don't think that commercial would get me to go to Cedar Point (I know they're not trying to get me, but if I had never gone or was thinking of taking a trip to CP)! I know when I was in Oregon and California years back I saw Cedar Point commercials aired over there.
So I was watching TV yesterday and saw the commercial for the first time. I was hoping I would never see one, but no such luck. THIS IS THE WORST COMMERCIAL AND SLOGAN I HAVE EVEN SEEN. "The Fun and Only." I could have come up with something extremely better for a few million dollars!

This is going to be an extremely small amount of people that might just happen to travel to or near a city that has a Cedar Fair park. Then there is the small chance of them actually getting to see/hear a commercial for that park while there. Even with that, what person from the general public will even have paid enough attention to remember the commercial they saw back in Ohio is similar to what they are now seeing in Minnesota or California? I say that because for the amount of times I have been to L.A. (which is a lot), I have never once seen/heard a Knott's commercial. Billboards on the other hand are a different story:)
Just face that fact that while we don't like these commercials, no one outside of the enthusiast community is really going to know what is being done here. Companies all over the country do the same thing with there advertising.
My mom is not an ethusiast, and she thought the commercial was really bad.
Face it....it's bad.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
I am not denying it is bad, that is not what I am even talking about. I do think it is a horrible commercial, my point was that someone wont notice it is the same commercial for Cedar Point as it is for Canada's Wonderland or any other park they use it for. That is what RideWarrior and I were talking about.

The first link posted is being used at the parks that are choosing to advertise the season pass. Look on Kings Island's YouTube page.

^^Right. It was also pointed out that, as per the general public, only people living in markets shared by CF amusement parks would see the double ads. While these are small areas, they do exist, and if CF is willing to make that sacrifice for the entire chain.
I'm not mad at the commercial or where its being played or anything like that, but moreover the movement of slogans that has occured chain-wide recently. It is obvious that some slogans work for some places, and some work for others, and the execs who are all hired to agree with Kinzel need to stick their heads out and point this out.
Kings Island - Fun and Only has a nice ring to it, but Carowinds - Fun and Only does not. Slogans do not work chainwide, and the CF Marketing Department needs to stop making a Human Centipede and develop slogans that fit for each park. Ride On is a unique slogan that does happen to work for most, if not all of the parks, and I know America's Roller Coast has been with CP for a while, and that's great, but changing this slogan chain-wide, especially since it includes the word "only" shows pure apathy in my opinion.
I think the song/slogan was made for just Kings Island, but was actually expanded to the chain. Listen how Kings Island's is the only commercial with the same people singing the park name as the rest of the song. In all the other commercials it is edited in with other voices.

Its going to be a bit annoying hearing "Hope you enjoy your day at Cedar Point, The Fun and Only!"...
I always loved having "America's Roller Coast" at the end and even "Ride On" was fun to hear... now having to hear this will be quite weird and probably will never fit.

Who says they wont say "Americas Roller Coast" anymore? That is an old slogan and yet they were still using it last year. Just because the park has a new marketing slogan does not mean it will translate into a ride spiel.
