I have a pretty good feeling that they tried out a nice shiny test location on magnum last august.

Heck, the season started and they weren't done paint Mantis last year. I remember during the Dragster media day when they were painting Mantis the wind was hitting people in line with Dragster with paint.

So, all of Magnum that's been painted is that little 3 foot section at the bottom of the lift? -sigh- That sucks, man.

Corkscrew's paint was never actually finished. I assume that they have finished now, but they only painted from the pull-out of the station to the brake run. This left all of the break run and station track peeling and rusted. Also, it wasn't a "professional" job per se. In fact, a guest pointed out to me that they were using plain old outdoor paint on it.

I really doubt that they would use house paint on a metal structure. The paint on Corkscrew has a beautiful gloss to it, similar to the other repainted rides, house paint wouldn't look that good.

Why did the guest think they were not using a specialty paint? If the guest came to that conclusion by looking at the paint buckets, the painters could have just poured some paint from a larger container into whatever paint buckets were handy to use.

Its very possible they used a "normal" outdoor paint, but I'm sure it didnt come off the back shelf from Big Lots if it is. It is made to last and works well on metals. Whatever they used it is not house paint. It does not stay on metal whatsoever, and is in no way weather proof.

If you look in the corner of the TTD webcam you can see Iron Dragon's lift hill in the upper left corner. You can see yellow!

Why would they paint ID that color? If anything they should have kept the track red and the supports green. It would have looked more like a dragon then.

Who said anything about house paint. All I see is someone mentioning that a guest pointed out there was Outdoor paint used. Although it is agreed that CP wouldn't use house paint or normal outoor paint. Nor do I think they would buy normal sized paint cans to paint rides. I think Pete's suggestion og them dumping the paint into those kind of containers makes more sense.

Well, actually then, Cedar Point wont buy any of the paint mentioned. .Normally a seperate painting company does the painting on the coasters hired by CP. Those jobs were put out to bid. For Mantis and Dragster it was a company from Toledo who painted those two (dont remember the company name).
