New forums: READ THIS!

Hello GTTP Party People:

The new forums are up in beta form, and you're looking at them. There are some bugs that I already know about, but they'll have to wait until the next beta. For now, here are some features:

Rich text editing: If you're using Internet Explorer, you'll notice the nifty new text editor where you can highlight text and change it with the buttons. Click the help link for more info. If you like the old style, just click "use plain post."
Also, you should enjoy the favorite topics. You can choose one to make your favorite at the top of any thread, then view them from a link on the home page.

There's a lot more, but if you're really curious, you can see the temporary feature list here:

Note that the one-to-one topics aren't ready yet.

Have fun!

I especially like the FAQ coming up after your first post.  Hopefully that will help once it's at Coasterbuzz...

Heh, this is really cool. Thanks Jeff... the world would be so much different without ya!

It may be me but everything seems much snappier loading and it appears you have made some small changes in colors. Very nice job!
And now there's spellcheck for Rob! :-)

The forums should be faster as I've optimized quite a few things. The only trade-off with the WYSIWYG editor for IE is that you can't use spell check with it.

Personally, I'm most excited about the favorite topics. On a busy forum, stuff you're interested in may get lost if you don't save it, so that should help out quite a bit.

Yeah, but it's amazing how few people actually used it.

By the way, the new text editor doesn't work with the Mac IE5 (at least the OS 9.1 version, I haven't tried the OS X version yet) but you probably already know that.

Yeah, and unfortunately I don't have a Mac to test on (I did at my old job). Unfortunately, I'll probably have to scrap trying to support it, which I didn't want to do.

THIS IS AWE SOME AND JEFF HOW DO U DO THOSE FACES AND WHAT ARETHE CODES FOR
:) ;) those are all i know for the faces! The codes are hold Shift and press : Then Press 0 holding Shift. And same for the other one except don't hold shift when doing the eyes. :)
Is there a problem with my browser, or do the smiley faces not show up as faces anymore?  All of them above look like a colon or semicolon next to a right paren.  I've always been able to see them until the new update.  If it's my browser, any ideas how to get them to work.  It's not a big deal, but I'd like to fix it.

:) Huh. It appears you are correct. I guess that's a bug I'll have to fix.

Don't know if this has anything to do with the new forum software.  Seems I don't have moderator rights to delete topics (duplicate about JCC ERT, FYI).  It's just says that my name/password are incorrect.  I reenter them and get the same message.

The Edit account option is HTTP 500. I assume that you already know this though.

I'm not having any problem... have you totally logged out and back in? What else does it say?

If you're using Internet Explorer, you can go into the options and uncheck "show friendly HTTP errors." That gives far more useful errors.

I get the same thing.
