Disaster Transport + shooting screens = big thumbs down!
Flight of Fear and Space Mountain are cool rides. Disaster Transport was a poor man's version of it and I know they were trying to salvage the worthless Avalanche Run. We all know the special effects were left to rot. But I hope the shooting screens aren't what is in store for Cedar Point. I am still trying to figure out what is the point of the coaster track in WMG.

It raises the track to a higher level so it can go through the building and then be in position for the "surprise" element at the end. That's my take on it anyway, just from the vids. I haven't been there to see it.

For the Verbolten drop track at the end and for no other reason. They killed the ride capacity just for that one effect and the outdoor lift only confuses people. If they were to use coaster track at Cedar Point, especially if it were a Disaster Transport remake, I'd hope they'd play up the coaster aspect a bit more. If not, they might as well leave it grounded.
yesterday, it went to cedar point for local 55 plumbers union Cleveland becasue a good friend of mine works for that union. he was telling me that next year, it wont be at the point pavilion becasue he was told the pavilion wont be there in 2015 so instead it will be held at coral courtyard next to windseeker. this pretty much confirms where cedar points new attraction for 2015 will be, and that area is full of survey markings by raptor restrooms and all around point pavilion.
I just hope they don't mess with the area by those two car rides. The landscaping is really nice with the trees, I think it's one of the only areas that is completely shaded.

The restaurant at the left when entering the front gate, I think it is Hanna's Chicken Shack or something, has been closed every time I've been up to the front of the park. I cannot remember seeing it open at all.
Also it is not listed on the CP website under the dining section.
If it is closed, this may also suggest some new activity in the pavilion area.
New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus
^I hope Hurricane Hanna's goes away or at least replaced. Walking into the park and seeing a palm tree always annoys me.

Whatever Cedar Point does, I really hope they keep Shoot the Rapids after this season. Everyone is complaining about it on the other topic. I also agree with Maverick oo as well about the Car rides. Those are very well landscaped!
As I said in another thread STR is not going anywhere for at least a few years even though it is a complete maintenance nightmare. Look how long it took for DT to leave. Mean Streak I would think would be next to go in the park....
Thank you CPboy for reassuring me on that. Whew! I want to be known around here as Shoot the Rapids Shawn just because I'm the only one on here that likes that ride so much. I cannot be that If they remove it.
Shoot the Rapids Shawn's got a nice ring to it. Not many rides start with B for me to get a nickname.

I believe it was open Thursday. I didn't take a good look at it but I'm pretty sure it was open around 5.

I have a new theory about what's coming in 2015. With California's Great America recently announcing its new Great America Pavilion (http://greatamericanthrills.net/tag/great-america-pavilion/) do you think that a new pavilion could be coming to the Point in 2015? Think about it. Tony tweeted a picture of wood. Maybe it's not for a ride or coaster, but for construction of a new building. With Hurricane Hanna's, I'm sure the park is aware of its odd theming and location, and combine that with it not being listen on the park's map, I think it might be on its way out. Lastly, there are many markings in the area around and surrounding the Point Pavilion. Now that CaGA announced a brand new pavilion, I think all our current information is pointing toward this happening at Cedar Point too. No, it's not a new ride, but maybe there's more in store for 2015 if a pavilions is part of next year's additions. I'd actually be pretty excited though. I think it could really open up the front of the park even more and it would be great to have a modern, updated dining/gathering facility. Plus add some trees and nice landscaping in the area and I think it would look great.

I think that is definitely a possibility, it makes a lot of sense. The only question I have is what will be the main purpose of it. That project at GA kinda reminds me of the Harmony Hall place that just opened at Carowinds.

If that was coming to CP, why was the Plumber's Union told that their event would be moved? They would most likely hold the event in the new facility. I'm thinking that the Point Pavilion will be the site of a dark ride building.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Yeah, I've been noticing more and more than the Coral Courtyard by the beach is being used for big catering events. There was some out of state hospital/clinic using CC on 6/21 when I was last there. This would seem to make the current Point Pavilion a little more obsolete. When I was walking around in the Point Pavilion area last time(before I got chased away taking pics of the utility markings, haha!) I was quite surprised by the amount of untapped real estate that the park could use for a new attraction. The area is alot bigger back there than I think most people realize. Time will tell...
I'm all for a good dark ride, but I don't think those shooting dark rides are a good fit for Cedar Point. I know there's new leadership now, but I can't help but worry that they will not keep up with the ride and it will slowly lose it's effects every year and the park won't notice to fix them.
I think I would feel better about it if Wonder Mt. Guardian is still fully functional 5 years from now.
I know this is not going to happen, but I would love for that "Fury 325" trademark to be for Cedar Point.
Wonder Mount's Guardian has no theming aside from the video game. There's nothing else there to keep up.
Our park isn't the only entity under new leadership, it's also Cedar Fair in general. If you look at what has taken place at Knott's, there is no reason to believe that Cedar Point could not do something equally as spectacular.
But as I stated in the "In the Dark" thread, I would be sorely disappointed if they take the interactive-video-game route.
