New Food for 2004

Sure, Bay Harbor serves perch, but I agree that they need to sell some inside the park. The good stuff, fresh and breaded on site. Both perch sandwiches and perch and walleye meals. If the Jolly Roger can do it, so can CP. Fresh perch and walleye along with the CP fries is a match made in heaven. It's a hell of a lot better than the frozen catfish sticks they are selling this year.

DragonRider:

The batter is the same batter that's used to make corn dogs.

Yummy!

What kind of batter is it on cheese on a stick by the way? I have wanted to try making it myself in the offseason and I know it is not corn batter, but what is it?

Actually, it IS the same corn batter as corndogs. At least, it sure looks (and tastes) like it -- I can't imagine the stand back by Mean Streak keeps two different vats of batter...

I think both the corn dogs and cheese on a stick use batter called Pronto Pup.

After looking up Pronto Pup on the web, it seems that it is a wheat based batter instead of a corn based batter. This is kind of what I suspected. Now, I just need to find a plae that sells less than a 50lb bag...

Update.. the pronto pup website sells it in 5 lb. bags and this is from their site.

"We feature our Pronto Pup Flour Mix which makes the Famous Pronto Pup hot dog on a stick. This is the same "Pronto Pup" that you'll get at places like Cedar Point Amusement Park and at the Minnesota State Fair. You'll also find Pronto Pups at many other of America's greatest Amusement Parks and Fairs. Pronto Pup Flour Mix is the best tasting, easiest to use Hot Dog On A Stick Mix anywhere!!"

I agree about the taffy. Thats one thing my dad complains about the most. And Krispy Kreme doughnuts are over rated. Unless they are fresh off the line! Those are good! But Jeffs right that IOA blows CP out of the water, I love the sit down restaurants with themes, and great food! Anyway I prefer fridays at the Breakers, even though they don't have Crispy orange chicken! One thing I would like to see is gourmet pizzas, I think Jeff mentioned like Dorneys! That would be sweet, especially if they got a California Pizza Kitchen! I love their Thai chicken pizza!

I love this radio station

FYI--the chicken fingers/strips can be found at the stockade over between the railroad crossing by Gemini and the Mean Streak/RR station in Frontier Land. For some reason, they're usually better there than the place under the Sky Ride. (The Stockade is where I find the best hamburgs too.)

And I for one am very happy with the frozen custard in the park. Leave it alone, I finally found the best tasting one.

I would love to see more fresh fruit and salad offerings. Last year there was one place along the Main Midway between Raptor and the antique cars, but this year my only find for salads has been at Macaroni's. But then again, their pizza is the best in the park, so I usually will make do there.

Awww, bad day? Take a different perspective on things. Try upside down, a barrel roll, a cobra roll or a corkscrew. Life can't be all that bad when your feet are over your head!

Salads can be had at Midway Market and at the Chuck Wagon Inn.

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

Dragon's Lair also has great chicken strips. It is between Iron Dragon and Mantis. They had a special "combo meal" that wasn't as overly priced as the normal combo meals. I think it was around $5 for the chicken and fries but I don't believe a drink was included at that price.

Even better than IoA, IMO, is Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The Canellioni in Italy is primo.

Beer and golf Thursday thru Monday, Cedar Point & beer, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Chicken strips don't even come CLOSE to the BBQ they took out. For years, the BBQ chicken was a CP staple. I miss it.

I don't think I ever ate the BBQ chicken... not that I remember anyway.

I like to gourmet 'buttered' big pretzels next to the Scrambler on the midway, not that they are a meal or anything.

Has anyone seen the info on Kings Island's new food initiative? They hired a number of professional chefs, and along with standard park fare will offer gourmet and semi-gourment dishes throughout the park. Not that I'd be interested, but its different (I like good old amusement park food when I'm at a park).

I have been more impressed this year with King's Island's food selection than ever before. I think that CP food needs a change. There is too much of the "standard" fare and not enough specialty foods to spice things up a bit. I mean if you compare the menu at Johnny Rockets and Coasters they are exactly the same. What kills me even more is that they serve the same burgers as I can buy at GFS. There is nothing special about the food CP serves. I was impressed by being able to eat Chinese for lunch at PKI and then being able to have a pretty good pizza for dinner (better than CP's). Hopefully CP takes note and mixes things up a little.

I would love to see fresh made donuts at the point.

I love the Tiny Tom Donuts at PCW. And I'm pretty sure it's a chain that could get placed at CP fairly easy. They make the tiny donuts which you can watch get made, then get dumped in your choice of cinnimun(sp?),powdered sugar, etc.

Nothing like a fresh bag of hot donuts.

What I'd love at the Point:

-A Krispy Kreme donut shop.
-A Chinese food place.
-Maybe a gourmet, jacket-required, formal rstaurant at one of the hotels, too!

1. Krispy Kreme available at hotels and at the front gate

2. No one wants to see regurgitated moo goo gai pan

3. Bay Harbour

Cold Krispy Kreme original glazed are just donuts. Now fresh and hot? MMMMmmmmm....

tambo

I believe they also have Krispy Kreme donuts at C.J.'s Provisions on the Frontier Trail near Millennium Force. I have seen them there...but have never bought any there. I also noticed when i was at the park this past weekend that their selection of food was very limited. All three of the french fry stands just had regualar and garlic fries thats it. A lot of other stands were limited on food too.
Vanessa:

Depending on where you go, moo goo gai pan sometimes already looks regurgitated..;)
