Very true about the food at CP. Unless you have a ton of money and go to Midway Market by the Raptor and can eat healthy there. I figure why bother spending 15 dollars on an all you can eat place just for the salad bar when there is a Subway right in Sandusky about 10 minute drive from the park. Which is where I go, I never eat at the park.

Actually the Midway Market doesn't even have very health options. Wethought the same thing on our visit last year over Memorial Day weekend. The biggest problem is that they don't have any low-calorie/fatdressings. So even the salads aren't that good. Plus you're correct, who wants to pay $15 per person for that food.
On our last visit in September, we left the park for dinner and ate atBW3's. We had our usual meals,
Me -Side Salad w/ Fat Free Ranch (40 cal for whole packet but I usually only use 1/2-3/4) on the side as appetizer. Naked Tender Wrap w/no tomato, no sour cream and Honey BBQ sauce
Jen - Side Salad light cheese w/ Fat Free Ranch on the side as appetizer. Naked Tender Wrap w/light cheese, no sour cream, and Sweet BBQ sauce.
It's vacation so we can eat a little less strict, but thatdoesn't mean we just go crazy and eat 3 meals a day of pure grease. I think for a 'vacation splurge' we splita regular (ie: small) buffalo chips. Also, in the park we split a saltfree pretzel for our afternoon snack...
Part of the fun of an amusement park visit is eating all the carnival type foods, at least for me.
Unless someone is on a medically restricted diet, no one will be harmed by indulging in the park treats a few times a year. All the talk about healthy eating at an amusement park is just over the top. You don't live at the park, so it is not like the food at CP has a big impact on your daily life.
Elephant Ears, French Fries, Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels, Cheese-On-A-Stick, Ice Cream, Funnel Cakes. Yum - bring it on!
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I guess the whole maXair thing finally be put to rest, even though it was assumed.
Sky Ride looks really weird without the data cable running in the middle of it. Does anybody know if it is coming back, or did it go underground?
Finally, have there always been pavers on the Main Midway. They mentioned it at the end of the blog post.

I just assumed when I saw they had a trench dug on the Midway earlier this week that the data cable was going in it. I don't remember pavers. Just concrete, but with pavers I guess if they ever had to access the trench again, pavers are easier to remove and replace.

Nope, no pavers in the past...

Pavers will look sharp on the Main Midway. Im guessing the combination of the increase in asphalt (oil) prices and concrete's long curing time is partially the reason they went this route, but still way to go with the more expensive but better looking route CP :).
Definitely, it’ll be a nice touch to the main midway. Now if only they would get the Gemini midway paved.;)
And about food. I don’t see (and I know some of you feel the same way) higher quality food coming to Cedar Point any time soon. I'm sure people, who have been to Cedar Point, know or are at least aware of the prices and selection and if they're convinced enough, they'll bring bagged lunches or some other alternative. The point is that people don’t drive to CP worrying about what the food is going to be like. Except for organizing a food budget, most of the time, they could care less what they eat. Just as long as it looks/sounds/tastes/smells appealing, does what it's suppose to and is affordable, they'll wharf it down!
I'm not in any way saying that better food is a stupid idea, it would be great! But Pete pretty much said it. It's an amusement park, not a 364 acre five star restaurant. We just have to live with it and wharf down what they have to offer. Minus a few experiences, I’ve never found CP’s food variety to be un appealing.
I say bring on the Panda, Chick, and Daves!!!

That's true, I didn't think of the dressing, I always buy fat free dressing. Also when I'm walking so far and long in the park, I don't feel like eating, so I usually have some oatmeal before I leave in the morning and leave the park around 5 p.m. and have Subway and go home, that way I'm not spending a ton of money at the park.
Also I think 3 dollars for a bottle of water is rediculous.
I have to agree with TTD 120's post up above about the food quality. You really made a good point there. Cedar Point cares about giving people good food choices for their guests. Most of the restaurants in the park are set up like a normal fast food place like McDonalds, Burger King, etc. So for people who want to be really healthy, you might as well just wait until you get home the next day after your visit to Cedar Point. There are a few good restaurants in the area outside the park like Famous Dave's, TGIF, and East of Chicago that are really good.

I'm not so sure about that. The pavers will only be in the trench that they are filling in. That trench isn't that big, so the amount of concrete used to fill it would be less than the cost of pavers, and not to mention a lot easier to install. Curing of concrete is quicker than you might think and it would have until opening day until traffic was on it.

How do you figure that?
And, there will be traffic on it before Opening Day. There's always maintenance, construction and various other vehicles driving around the midway, and as we near Opening Day, you'll have more and more employees throughout the park.

I realize there is always a lot of traffic on the midway, but it is pretty easy to avoid a trench like that for a week or so in order for the concrete to cure.
As far as cost...when I built my last home, the cost of pavers was over double per square foot than that of concrete. ($15sq/ft vs. $7sq/ft)

Yes, I don't live at the park, but last year I made 6-7 trips which is a pretty significant amount of visits. Extracalories every so often won't make a huge impact on weight, but the greasyfried foods will tear your stomach apart when you aren't use to it.
When on vacation on Mackinaw island we went out and I had some onion rings at abar and wow, did my stomach hate me after that. Upsetstomach + riding roller coasters = bad situation.
It looks like Toft's will be coming to the Point this year, and they will be giving a 10% discount on Sundaes on Sundays to PP holders!
