Name it

I still like Banshee and think it should be incorporated somewhere in the park. Wouldn't something like, "Forest Banshee" or something revolving around a ghost-like theme be great? They could add some crazy theming with tons of trees and eeriness with fog. The lake would make it that much better as well. I would like something like Goliath at SFMM where you're surrounded by trees and not a winding queve.

How about Maverick?

At first, wasn't Cedar Point thinking of calling the Mantis the Banshee? I thought I read it somewhere that they announced it was going to be called "The Banshee", then they changed it to "The Mantis".

They were afraid too many people would be offended by the name....so they probably won't name anything Banshee. They lost enough money on the promoting of the first one only to go and change the name.

Well, I guess some people could get offended by that, but I don't think its that bad, I thought a banshee was like a donkey lol. I bet the logo that they would have made for it would've looked awesome.

It was the definition of Banshee that made them afraid of someone being offended, not the way its pronounced.

"A female spirit in Gaelic folklore believed to presage, by wailing, a death in a family"

But im not sure how a mantis is any better, females eat the males when done mating

Which is not an image you want a coaster to evoke. And the logo (I believe) went to Dorney and was slightly modified to fit Steel Force.

I kind of like "whiplash" as a name for a coaster. Fits a west theme and coasters...Legal might have problems though because Whiplash=lawsuits. Still, it's short and sweet and would fit a coaster with multiple rolls or some fair bunny hops. Don't know if the name has been used before though.

I am thinking Supernova because of the red track and big construction site/future coaster

How about we wait untill more track is on site. Then we can start naming the ride.

In 1892 CP had a ride called "Switchback Railway", "we're going in a whole new direction." Not really a good coaster name though, for these days.

A couple years ago rumor had it that SFGAm was getting a 4d, those days came to pass. But the name was going to be "TumbleWeed."

If Cp's ride has some spins or inversion then maybe "TumbleWeed" would fit, considering the OldeWest; (Olde fashion) theme there.

Or, how about if people want to have fun and guess the ride name, you let them, since it isn't hurting anyone.

I really like the name Maverick, its simple and fitting. I hope it ends up being that.

My deal with Maverick is that it's the name for a thousand diffrent things... Towns, People's names, Sports teams...

...X-Men characters...

Maverick is the obvious choice, though I wouldn't bet my life on it. It could, hypothetically be for something else, but the most obvious choice is usually the correct one.

My friend wanted me to post this on here cuz he doesnt have an account.

He said "The Rattler" would be a cool name since the snake is from the wild west and thats the "theming" back there. Just my friends thought.
