Mystery Construction

You obviously have no idea what happened to Snake River Falls and its "themeing," otherwise you would not have suggested they build a mountain.

I think the park needs to stray far away from rides that depend on theme to carry the experience. I'm not saying they still can't build a flume, but it doesn't need a theme.

Odd how Jeff hasn't responded to this whole he doesn't get paid subject.

I have a life, sonny, and if you stop visiting the site, you'll do us all a favor. Your inability to communicate like a grown up is irrelevant to whether or not I make a dime from this site.

What it comes down to is this: The Internet is full of illiterate morons who continue to demonstrate the failure of our education system, and worse, think it's OK. My corner of the Internet will not be like that. Since I pay for the bandwidth, it's fully within my right to decide how to conduct conversation. It's fully within your right to go play in traffic.

So instead of everyone trying to be funny or part of the in crowd, why not get back to discussing the topics at hand?

First things first. My name is not Sonny, and if it were, you failed to capitalize my name.

second, on most rides, a theme doesn't do anything for me, unless your going nice and slow to enjoy it. How ever, a flume ride with a theme would be nice because most of the time you are going quite slow.

Don't Euro Fighters have bad capacity?

^^Are you serious about the sonny comment? You've never been called sonny before, young whippersnapper?

I don't think so. I mean, from what I hear about the one at Dollywood, it has enough blocks and moves fast enough to keep the line moving. The one at Mall of America doesn't have a line half of the time while the kids are in school, so who knows on that one. I don't think Saw at Thorpe Park has started running for the public yet, but it looks like it's blocked about right to keep moving as well.

I guess my point is that it hasn't been used in a high capacity scenario beyond Dollywood, as far as I know, and that ride is quoted for 1,000 riders per hour.

Mystery Mine did pretty good for capacity when we went. I wouldn't mind seeing one of those pop up at Cedar Point, especially if they can keep the theme running.

I also wouldn't mind another B&M Invert, but I'm crazy like that.

I can see a Euro Fighter fitting into the space that has been cleared. But Jugga I think you are going to have to keep dreaming about another B&M invert at CP. :)

I know all about how their original plans for a mountain were scraped on SRF. That's why I suggest one for a new flume, otherwise it will be nothing different than White Water Landing.

Another thing I like about the Euro-fighters is how compact they are with their vertical lifts. I would love to see a custom Euro-fighter with an extreme degree lift and an easy maverick-ish/Mystery Mine theme idea. And maybe add a little bit of a small area on the island the ride could work around. Like something with a small haunted mining town (not soo much as to copy off of Mystery Mine) feel and look that could be utilized with Halloweekends and Frontier Trail. And play the new area off as an area that was a part of Cedar Points far past and has come back as a ghost town.

Here's a rough idea (and I mean rough) of what Im thinking would be neat.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v175/Dragster420/land5.jpg

The blue areas would be buildings and there would be 2 truss style bridges. One for guests and one for the coaster (like Ravine Flyer 2). Both of which would be high enough to allow clearance for Paddlewheel boats.

I'd love to see a euro-fighter. If CP were to put one in the park, I think they would make it very unique.

Has a spinning coaster been thrown into discussion for the mystery area? They are compact, capable of decent capacity, family friendly, and Cedar Point's favorite ride manufacturer builds one. Anyone know what kind of capacity Sierra Sidwinder gets? It looks pretty decent and has trains as opposed to single cars like a lot of other spinners.

A Euro Dark Ride anybody? :)

A Sierra Sidewinder would be great, but unless it's a giant one, CP does not need a lot of space to accommodate. I think a lot of people are focusing on the island only, and not the boneyard area...both spots together can fit a large coaster.

Hmm. Besides a well-done walk-through or other family-oriented dark-ride attraction (such as a haunted house or pirateride-esque attraction), I like TTD120's idea the best.

And yes, Mystery Mine has excellent capacity, and still ranks as one of the most unique all-around ride experiences out there, even though the ride itself was fairly rough, the total experience made that not such a big issue.

The problem I see with this idea, though, is Cedar Point's achilles heel: theming.

Maybe they can use the whole island thing as a theme, maybe a euro dark ride that has a tropical island theme with tiki torches and such. That be fun, a tropical paradise in Sandusky :)

May, September and October-November aren't exactly the best months for a "tropical" theme section of the park.;)

I've heard it more than a few times while sitting right across from the man in the employee cafeteria talking about rides at other parks. I personally took part in one of the conversations. He wasn't quite as adamant about it as you may think some of us are saying, but he was rather strong in his opinion, that much was clear.

I understand you are saying he dislikes Intamin Prefabs but I'm just curious what reasons did he give? Maintenance, too smooth, price?

What's wrong with Halloween in the tropics? They could call it Voodoo island.

Oh, wait, that name's taken already.
