Iagree, coaster wars are not over in my eyes. I don't think Cedar Pointwould take the chance at losing their position as "best amusement parkin the world".

Being the bestest has NOTHING to do with having the most of anything.

Going to laugh my ass off when your stubborn ass is wrong. People are confirming coaster supports near the "train set". What have you to say then?

I'm stubborn because I employ reason and logic? That's a new one.

And in case you were wondering, steel supports can, in fact, support other things. Or so I've heard. But what would I know? I'm just an engineer...

you're right, I wasn't speaking of quantity anyways. depending on what type of rollercoaster SFMM is building, I think they could eventually take our position as best amusement park in the world. if the coaster wars are over, then other parks will look at it as Cedar Point gave up... and then those other parks will go and build bigger and badder rides to compete for the title. idk...

People who have been to the park. At least that's what I would think. I thought you would know that, Jugga. ;)

I haven't seen confirmation. I've seen people claiming to have seen something, but find their claims highly suspect without actual proof.

No they won't. Most parks can't afford to drop 25 million on a ride. Heck, most parks can't afford to drop 15 million on a ride. They won't see it as Cedar Point "giving up" on anything because there was nothing to give up on. Parks will continue (as they always have) to put in the ride that makes the most sense for them. And for 99% of the parks out there, that doesn't include an -est coaster.

* - sorry for the double post.

I don't understand people on this site half the people on this site act like they know whats going on next year, and leave no room for ideas, and the other half have these ego's, because they think they are better than everyone else, and that they have the right to shoot down other peoples ideas. You know no one can know everything so everyone can stop acting like they do.

Please, put down the crack pipe, find a chalkboard and write "the coaster wars are over" 50,000 times, or at least until you get that fact through your head.

The amusement industry isn't about ego boosting (anymore) or CEO's having celebrations because enthusiasses think their rides are more awesome than other parks. Its about one thing - making money. You cannot keep building more coasters every other year and expect to make money.

Really? I mean... really?

Thank you! At first I was just trying to throw out ideas and say what i think might happen, but I keep on getting attacked by people who think they know what's really going on.

don't shoot my idea's down, they're just ideas! can't some of you find a way to agree a little bit instead of always saying "no, you're wrong".

i'm not a coaster genious or anything.

People here do know, two of which should be obvious, and you should know they won't be saying anything. Besides them, there are others here who know. If you look back a few pages, you'll see what I mean. Dj linked to a few posts, and I can verify those posts as solid.

But pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, back to those supports behind the train scene and the objects on Millennium Island...

There's a difference between a good idea and a bad one.

A good idea takes into account logic, reason, common sense and any and all available, viable facts. If a good idea is presented, no one smacks it down.

A bad idea ignores the above criteria, and resembles a wish list more than anything else. These ideas add nothing to the discussion, and are appropriately smacked down.

ADDED:
If you're upset about getting your ideas shot down, perhaps you should step back, pay attention and take some information in and digest it. Of course, if you don't care about your ideas being mocked, etc., fire away.

Finally someone has risen up! :-) Getting back on subject though, Do you think that Cedar Point may be getting a ride similar to the Avatar ride at Kings Island and the Alien ride (who's name I can't think of right now) at Kennywood? It can be built by Intamin, and it can get people wet, as seen on Intamin's website http://www.intaminworldwide.com/iag/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=68&Itemid=32 and is under the term "coaster". So this would be its 18th coaster, a wet ride, a ride that doesn't take up alot of space, and its something you don't see at every amusement park, something Cedar Point seems to thrive on. Eh, eh?

Yet again, its just an idea............

I think the coaster wars are over for the time being as far as heights go. You will see a lot of new coasters breaking records. Length, steepest drop, speed, inversions.....ect...ect.

So in general, the coaster wars are not over. They never will be.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Funny, I thought the amusement industry had moved on to the "Making Money Wars"...

Except that a war requires 2 participants. Ask the management of Six Flags Ohio what happens when you're the only one in a coaster war.

I don't think the coaster wars are over either, the basis of the wars have changes it seems like its no longer of height or speed as crazy horse stated, but now it redirected at uniqueness like who can create the craziest inversion, and who can build the first of its kind coaster, and other unique aspects of a ride.

I agree with some of you in that I am SO SICK of some people in this post acting like they "know" what CP is getting next year...promising it's not this or not that. I'm sure Jeff and Walt know, but the rest of you have absolutely no idea what it is going to be. For all we know, CP marketing is playing tricks on us, and Jeff and Walt are going along for the ride. When you add it all up, nothing really makes sense so far. We are flat out being played with, and I'm sure Tony is cracking up over it.

I bet someone is laughing at ALL of this. i know there is actually a job in cedar fair company where a person has to read all of these forums related to cedar point.

That would be cool. I like the look of that ride. However, the Millenium island location wouldn't be ideal for that ride.

Like someone else said, I hope they put something there that has some sort of track that would make good use of the space.

I like your thinking...i still think its going to be some sort of water ride/rollercoaster.

but i'm just not sure if that surfer ride would fit at cedar point. cedar point doesn't have a REAL park theme, but i just don't see the surfing theme fitting in anywhere. especially since cedar point has the frontier/western theme in the back of the park.
