hey
i just registered for this site and I was wondering if anyone could give me some trip tips?
my trip is set for the end of july...for four night and we are staying in the bon air section...has anyone stayed in the room thsats got two double beds, a sofa bed, and a fridge? I would love some photos to see what the room is like...
and could anyone give me any tips on when each ride usualy has the best line? we want to ride everything so its gonna be tough despite the four nights...weve got all three places to cover, cedar point, soak city, and challenege park.
what about the mosquitos at night? My boyfriend went last year and he said they just pelted you in the face on any ride..any tips about that?
again, anything would be appreciated! Thanks!
Depends on when you go. The muffleheads are bad in the end of May and first half of June.
For 4 days, you should be able to cover everything at the park, as much as you would want I would imagine. Do Maverick during ERT in the morning, although the line is never more than about 75 minutes for it. Dragster you may want to do last ride or try and catch during a slow period. Do raptor in the evenings.
Soak City and Challenge park shouldn't take more than a day for you to get tired of them. If you're over 21, the bubbles bar is nice in soak city.
ERT is the 1 hour early entry for resort guests and plantinum pass holder. You have one hour before the general public enters the park to ride: Raptor, Iron Dragon, Maverick, M. Force, Magnum and Planet Snoopy.

Pictures are easy to find if you search, I found this video the other day, it shows a few things from inside Hotel Breakers, and some other areas.
Challenge Park can easily be done in a couple of hours. Ripcord and Skyscraper usually don't develop any kind of a wait until after 3 or 4 in the afternoon, and even then the wait is usually less than 15 minutes. The Grand Prix track of the go karts you can usually get right on, you may have to wait a race or two for Sprint track. Challenge Golf could take an hour and a half to two hours if it is crowded and you do both courses. Even on a busy day you can do everything in Soak City in about 2 hours. Zoom Flume always has the longest line, so I'd hit that early or later in the day. Spend lots of time relaxing in the lazy river or swim up bar.
The bugs at night can be kind of bad, although by the end of July the worst of it is over. I'd suggest not riding anything in the front seat and keeping your arms down and mouth shut if you ride anything around or after dusk. The rides/coasters with lots of lights obviously attract more bugs than the rides that aren't lit as well. Ripcord and Skyscraper always had some crazy large swarms of gnats (at least I think that's what they were) in the flood lights at night.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I just checked the website and Magnum is not part of early entry in 2009. For some reason I thought it was. Sorry for the mixup.

Hazel,
There has been a lot of discussion regarding the Bon Air Section of the hotel on this site. It suits your needs if you are only going to be in the hotel a short time but I need to warn it you is rather unkept.
I would not stay there again and I am not a picky person really. It is the worst room I have ever had. It felt musty, dirty, loud a/c, no hot water.
If you have this many people I would seriously consider staying at one of the cabins which are newer and better laid out.
A lot of people consider bon aire just a place to crash at the end of the day and that is true but it is also true it is the one area with almost no pics up on the website as it is not really very nice at all.
I'm going out to get some air.
thank you
with all this information
im glad th be making my new reservation for the newer part of breakers tommorrow :) im so excited
I booked two nights in the Bon Air section for Coastermania yesterday. I saw pictures on tripadvisor and decided to go with it. At the end of the day it all comes down to convenience and price. It's the cheapest room on the peninsula and closest to the park. I guess in a couple of months I will know if the age and state of that section of the hotel is worth the convenience.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I stayed in http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/kicker15L7/?action=view¤...V02458.flv and honestly the bathroom in the Bon-Air room we stayed at was nicer than the bathroom in the single king overlooking the beach / pool.
The bathroom in my bon aire room had old green and yellow paper which was falling off, no hot water and tonnes of mildew.
All appears to depend on the room. One time at LP I had a great, clean cottage. Weeks later we had dirt everywhere and chips in all the beds.

Yeah, I have to say the bathroom in our bonair room was way...nicer than a more expensive single king room during peak season. $149 per night before taxes for the single king with the view. like $50-60 cheaper for the bonair with a nicer bathroom. Which I wish I remember what the room # was. It was close to the Soak City entrance.
I wasn't ever disgusted with the shower facilities though.
CP has adequate hotel properties. Although they could use a face lift.

Thankfully there is only half as much mildew when you do the conversion to actual tons. ;)
The one time I stayed in a Bon Aire room (opening day of 04) it wasn't bad. It was a place to sleep and it was clean, and about the only bad part was having to carry my bag up a couple flights of stairs.
Goodbye MrScott

Therein lies the problem. For the prices they're charging, "adequate" doesn't cut it for me.
During peak season, I've seen Breakers prices running upwards of $280/night and more. I've stayed at multiple Holiday Inn express and Marriot locations, with a price tag 1/3 of that, and had better accommodations.
I realize they've got a location thing going on, but so do many other parks, including the ones in Florida. For $179 - $250 a night, you can stay at Coronado Springs or one of the other moderate resorts in Disney property and feel like a king with amenities that you'd never find in Breakers or Sandcastle. Hell, even the $79/night value resorts seem like they have more to offer.
I'm not saying that I wouldn't stay at Breakers, because walking right there and into the park sure seems pretty great. I've stayed at all of the other CP resorts, save for Breakers, and I'd love to give it a go, though I just don't see it being worth the cash for what they offer.
I don't think there are a lot of rooms in the other older part, the main section. I stayed there and like the breakers bon aire section it is old but it is really nicely kept up (at least our room). It was not a lot more than Breakers Bon Aire and it was a million times nicer.
I would stay anywhere on site at CP except Bon Aire. If I could not afford another section I would go with Breakers Express or an off site location which I guarantee would either be cheaper or nicer.
I have stayed in many hotels and motels in my travels, both nice and not. I have never stayed anywhere as bad as Bon Aire.
My experience with LHP and Main was much better but I have to say for the $300 I paid for LHP I would have liked them to clean the room better and for the $230 I paid for Main I would have liked blankets without huge holes. Outside of that I loved both LHP and Main.
The rooms are expensive and need better cleaning and a facelift but like everyone else I stay for the location.
Sadly I am Canadian so with the exchange it is a little pricey for the offerings....
I'm going out to get some air.
