I have been on a slow burn for a while, but can no longer hold it in. According to your twisted logic, my husband, who had a stroke at an early age, should not be allowed to ride the coasters. Excuse me, but when did having something as bad as a stroke take away all of your desires to enjoy what you did before the stroke.
A friend of my oldest daughter has CP. He has an IQ in the 180's. Just because a body is crippled by CP does not mean that the mind is.
Ok, so I realize that Magnum, Millennium Force, and all are safe for people of all different sizes, so I guess I should have said "feeling unsafe" instead of "being unsafe." Take Magnum, for example. It's a pretty accomodating ride for people of all sizes. However, the lap bar does not even touch people who are the size of my girlfriend, and while it is still completely safe, it presents an "unsafe" feeling to the rider who is that size because it is so accomodating.

Specail Access is a great way to help EVERYONE enjoy the park!!!One thing to rememeber such is at Dragster you must be able to buckle your own Seatbelt and pull it atleast a half a inch and the Lapbar must be against the muscular parts of your thighs! Our line can have wheel chairs but it is not done because the wheel chair would have to be passed across the train not easy to do.
The whole issue with the seatbelt thing. I can fit on Top Thrill Dragster and pull over a inch because of how deep our seat is.
MF I can not ride I dont fit I dont complain. I realize that I need to loose weight and I am trying to work on it. *** Edited 10/24/2006 4:09:45 PM UTC by arms_down***

Ok, I understand the reasoning behind being upset with a potential abuse of the SA policy, but remember that person in the wheelchair doesn't want to be in it any more than you want to be overweight regardless of how long they waited to ride.Chalk this up to lessons learned - if you want to ride, you will have to drop a little weight. No, it's sure not easy, but it's probably a heck of a lot easier than it would be for that handicapped person to reverse their particular situation. By the way - weight struggles are a physical handicap also, but you have the power to overcome it in most cases. Good luck to you!
I had the privilege of working with a girl that had cerebral palsy (C-P) for my senior design project during college. I also got to meet several other individuals with this same condition that were working with other groups in my class. C-P is a condition that primarly affects the body, not the mind. It especially affects the fine motors skills of a person such as writing with a pencil or picking up and stacking poker chips. Mentally they are just the same as your or me. They definatly know not to unbuckle a seat belt while riding a roller coaster. I believe Tilt-a-Whirl Girl, as well as those she claims agree with her on the other message boards, are mistaking C-P with Autism where the mind does not fully mature and therefor in some cases the induviduals may not comprehend the consequences of unbuckling.

I'm sorry the Tilt girl dirtied up a post that actually had some validity. I do think that ride manufacturers should get more creative with design so that a larger cross section (no pun intended) of folks can enjoy the rides.
It hurts a Cedar Point since their bread and butter is thrill rides. You don't hear those complaints at WDW and Universal since they have plenty of other E-ticket attractions to choose from.
As for the back and forth regarding person's with disabilities...have some freaking respect for crying out loud. If STUPID was a recognized disability then a lot of you would get front row parking spaces.
"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world...but it requires people to make the dreams a reality."
-Walt Disney
I cant believe someone would complain about CP letting a person on with a disability before them. I mean come on already. We should be happy that we are lucky enough to wait in line for 2 hours!!! Please have a little respect.
I was there this past weekend and saw a good amount of men and women who I didnt think would be able to get on MF and were able to get on. I think that not everyone is honest about how big they are on this site.
Exit English-We have talked before on here and I agree with you. I know not everyone will get on the rides but people should look at it as motivation and work their butt off, eat healthier and work out a little.
Disney primarily doesn't specialize in thrill rides (though this is changing in recent years). Most of their attractions are a lot more sedate, so proper securing of passengers is less of an issue. Can you see the headline? "Rider falls out of It's A Small World, Dies From Over-Exposure to Hideous Song." And Disney is so huge, when somebody does die in their parks, as happens all too frequently given their limited number of real thrill rides, they can just absorb it as a cost of doing business.

I think that's a bad choice of words that they can absorb the cost of someone dying, but I understand what you're getting at.
Plus, Disney just does far more business than anywhere on the planet. The average fatality rate for amusement parks could be .001 percent. So when you only do 3 million guests in a year (CP) you're not likely to get one. When you do 30 million, your chances of having someone die at your park go up significantly.
Lastly, I don't think Disney patrons realize the forces that some rides exert on the human body before they ride. At CP, most rides are out in view, you can see that it is going really fast really quick. At Disney almost all are indoor which keeps you from seeing what it does before you ride. And if you just got off The World of Energy (with Ellen Degenerate) what's wrong with this pavilion about going to Mars and Space?
Of course, come to think of it, maybe going on M:S was their attempt to remove that voice from their heads.

I didn't mean to suggest that the folks at Disney were callous or indifferent about fatalities at their parks. I'm sure when it happens they must feel awful, even when it isn't the park's fault. I was speaking purely from an economic perspective.
Oh no! You've succeeded in planting Ellen in my head! Get her out! Get her out! Aaauugggh!!!

I just found this tread, so I'm late getting my 2 cents in. Tilt-a-Whirl, I empathize with you in your weight loss struggle. I'm sure it must be very difficult to diet: emotionally (depression, anxiety) & physically (cravings, hunger, flu-like symptoms). But many obese people are heavy d/t poor dietary & lifestyle choices that are under their control, with medical help if needed.
The people you have contempt for have no choice in their affliction. Even if they did not have to wait with the time stamp thing, are you sure you want to begrudge them such a small convenience as a "cut in line" for all they must endure on a daily basis?
I believe if you rethink this, you will have compassion for those less fortunate then yourself. As for the other web sites being like minded with you, it does not make me feel we may be wrong, but rather I find it disheartening that so many others have lost their ability to see beyond "what's in it for me".

If you cant fit into raptor you are of exceptional size. Nothing else needs to be said. Take some personal responibility for your size. Is your first name Monique?
