I am going to have to agree with Jeff. When it comes to rules at CP, you have to be cutthroat, and you can't make exceptions. I used to tell guests all the time that if I let them cut in line, then everyone would have to cut in line. And that would be anarchy! I think segways still have potential to harm others, and it is difficult to discern whether a guest is going to be responsible with one or not. If they are disabled, they should use one of the scooters CP offers.
And trust me, most guests leave their brains outside of the entrance gates.
The segway guy did seem to be a swell guy, but that has nothing to do with the fact that segways should not be used in areas where thick crowds form like that.

I still say it's not cool at all. They shouldn't allow Segways in the park, period. They have no place in crowds.
If this were Facebook, Id "Like" that post. Couldn't agree more.
Now if Cedar Fair had had a couple dozen of those at Geauga Lake a few years ago, they might have made a mint renting them out for five-minute, one way trips around the lake. Man, was that a long haul, especially at the end of the day with sore feet.

I'd be down with eliminating strollers, wagons, and electric scooters as well. All of those things create issues in crowded spaces.

Sometimes I can't tell if there is sarcasm in people's posts but if you really feel this way then try carrying a kid around all day without a stroller or wagon. In my opinion if you're going to say that, then you might as well say that the park should also eliminate the only way for handicapped people to get around...Wheel Chairs!
I must be the only one that isn't bothered by "Mr. Segway". I see him all of the time and he is very courteous to the people walking around him! (atleast every time I see him). I mean, nobody seems to have a problem with the special treatment Single Rider Bob gets. Or the attention that the crazy singing guy receives. Maybe this guy is just going to be another icon at the park we will all remember when we are old and telling our grandchildren about Cedar Point during our era!

Many of the guests coming to Cedar Point, are in "vacation mode". Which usually means they left a lot of there sense in the car. So he could be one of the safest drivers in the world, but when a guest unexpectedly walks infront of him, he is just a man on a machine that can cause major injury to himself and others. Man and machine can only react so fast.

Pretty much every post on here is sarcastic, or at least 80% of them.

Precisely why I don't have kids. So I don't have to carry them around. Little brats.
In that case, you shouldn't have any children, elderly or handicapped people allowed at Cedar Point. They are just a hindrance when trying to get around in the crowd. They should also remove the Top Thrill Dragster, because too many people stop in front of it and gawk at it, which could be a safety hazard. :)

^^ Ben pretty much answered word for word what I was going to say. While my suggestion was partly sarcastic, I do choose to not have kids because I don't feel like dealing with the annoyances they cause.
Personally, I don't take issue with Mr. Segway, but I have been rammed by strollers, wagons and scooters more times than I can count. Some of those suckers can hurt pretty good too.
I think that's the issue - there's actually a reason people use strollers, wagons and scooters (and wheelchairs), so any problems caused by them is part of dealing with being around a lot of people.
Of course, the difference with this situation is that there's absolutely no need for this guy to have a Segway - I don't care how crippled he is, or how many wars he served in. If he has a mobility issue, he should use a device that is inherently more safe for those around him. It's common courtesy.

If kids are just a source of annoyance, your world view is incredibly limited.
I've not had any real issues with strollers or wagons. Strollers in particular are fairly easy to control and limited in size. My issue comes with anything that has a motor in it and is operated by so-called adults. That's consistently where I encounter problems.

I guess my world view is incredibly limited. I'm not sure how that is, but hey. Kids are probably the #1 most annoying thing in the world.
I would be for the removal of TTD, Elderly, handicapped and Children from CP. Doesn't mean I think you should be or even that I expect you to share my view - just that TTD is a pile of intamin crap (see my signature), I don't know any elderly people, I don't know any handicapped people, and I dislike children. Plus I'm sure banning those 3 groups would make wait times lower for me.

You should try reading my post again then. I'm talking about Single Rider BOB. Not the people who go up the Single Rider's line for Maverick.
I'm not gonna sit here and say I don't get annoyed when people with strollers and wagons walk sooooo slow and stop and stare when they know there is a crowd of people trying to get around them, but how else do you want families to get around?
As for the people on here who are annoyed with the elder people that use motorized transportation in the park, what do you expect them to do? Wheel themselves around the entire park all day? I understand that some of them don't know how to work it, but mentioning that they should ban motorized transportation throughout the park is just silly. Especially Mr. Segway. Has anybody on here ever been run over by him or even came close to being run over?
And you should go read through some of the threads that reference single rider douchebag. You'll find there are plenty of people who find him to be a pushy a**hole.
Goodbye MrScott

Let the guy ride his two wheeled, law of physics defying contraption. I mean really how much damage could he possibly cause if he bumps into something? The guy isn't flying around at mach speed swinging nun-chucks like he was a character from "Road Rash". How many times have you read a news story reporting "Man kills 13 in bloody Segway rampage"? NONE! Seems to me like most of you are just fat, lazy and jellous that this guy has found a new way of getting around the park that you can't take advantage of. If there ever comes a time when I see this man, on the midway and out of control, I will do one or all of 3 things. Step softly out of the way. sneeze (thus providing more than enough force to knock him off his bi-wheeled vehicle of death). Point and laugh hysterically. No one has ever criticized people riding in crowded parks, on thier bicycles for fear that they might meet an untimely doom. If it bothers you act like hes not there and worry about more terrifying things...like bee stings and sunburn...
"Milk was a bad choice..."
Wait a minute. The people who aren't riding the Segway are the ones who are fat and lazy (and I'm not even sure what 'jellous' means)? Don't look now, but the Logic Bus is pulling away...
And no way in hell am I getting out of the way of this guy. If he touches me with it, I'll have his precious Segway gutted faster than Han Solo on a Taunton.

It's a good thing not everyone does since you're in the small group of people that sees Dragster like that. :)And here I thought I wouldn't have any kind of response in this thread. :P

Personally I can't tolerate other people's kids, so I definitely don't desire to have any of my own. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I wasn't seriously advocating the removal of all these other wheeled forms of transportation in the park, despite my annoyances with the more than occasional inconsiderate operator. I just don't see why they get a free pass when a guy who is using a medical device (someone said he's got a handicap placard for it) doesn't. It's not unreasonable to assume anyone who's got a handicap placard for the thing has had proper training on operating it. If it's just some random Joe bringing his toy to the park, then I'm certainly against it, but if they can prove something like a handicap placard, then in my opinion, I don't see an issue.

...(someone said he's got a handicap placard for it)..,
My Grandma has a handicap placard, and she walks relatively well for being handicapped.
And there's absolutely no way in hell she'd last more than a few seconds on a Segway. It's not really a handicap device. Based on this situation, I'd say it's a toy for people who have doctors who hand out handicap placards to pretty much anyone who asks for one.
