What is the best job on a coaster?
Controls, restraints, or entrance.
I am thinking of working when I am old enough (2002)
Well when you work on a coaster you do all three, so you really don't have much of a choice lol.

Controls is fun but it can get boring and hurts your fingers after a while. Platform(restraints) is fun,if there is other employees on the platform with you. Entrance SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd have to agree that Entrance is the worst, because everyone thinks they're original with the "I'm not tall enough!" remark, parents can get belligerant when their kid isn't tall enough (no, her pretty ribbon ponytail DOES NOT count), etc. But the rest of it is a great time, and it is a lot of fun because you switch around so you can do it all. The one good thing about Entrance is that (for most of the coasters) it's a chance to sit down!

I didn't work on coasters during the entire season, but I did get two chances. Once on CCMR and once on Gemini. For both coasters I didn't get a chance to work controls. But I did work both restraints and entrance. And of the two, I would have to say that entrance was the most fun. Mostly because I didn't like to bend over every minute or so and I didn't have to run up the lift when I caused a set-up(which happened only once, thank god, on each ride). But I also liked entrance because I got to deny people the chance to ride. It kind of gave me a type of job satasfaction when I was in a bad mood.

Hey I remember that set-up!! :) At least you only had to go to the bottom of the lift and not all the way up. And don't worry, we've all caused a set-up at least once when Gemini was running six trains.

Gemini ATL 2000
9 positions in 4 1/2 hours and still keepin' both sides happy!
Raptor:
My LEAST fav is crowd control
those people in the 1st car line can be pains..
or the ones who cant decide where they should sit so they block the platform entrance.
Unload side harder than load since someone generally always in those seats-plus they try to knock you over when they get off
Fav position:
Unload 1 cause of speels
Load 3 cause of dispatch
Controls for sure!!! =)
(especially when my friends are riding)
Entrance is not that bad-gives me an opportunity to talk to some people!
Ive learned quite well how to ignore the nasty parents/guests/and their not so funny "too short" lines or comments that I hear 20,000x a day.
(ok maybe not 20K but it sure seems that much!)

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
Well I did have to run out to and all the up the second hill of CCMR. I would say that the second hill of CCMR is about as far from the station as the c-blocks on Gemini. And just as high.

Try setups on Iron Dragon -- across the narrow metal catwalk over the smelly lagoon on a wet day! Then through the woods where lives the infamous swamp monster, to the second lift, and up the ladder to the top. Yikes!

ON MF my favorite positions were Controls (Unless we had a trouble light. And we had a trouble light about every 30 minutes or so.) Load was alright, but if you got stuck there for a while your back would start to hurt but you would get used to it. Unload was cool. Sitting turnstile was a pain. Walking was kind of cool. But I would have to say that entrance could go from cool to a major pain in the butt in about .358174 seconds. Overall though I would recommend working as a ride op. A little tip though. If you are planning on living there, try as hard as you can to get a room OFF POINT. I lived in Cedars and I thought it was horrible.
I swear.. I'm gonna trap that swamp monster one of these days...

Looking for me?? Take a guess where you'll find me...
What exactly is a "set up"
Rollercoasters are divided into blocks. Only 1 train can be in one block. If a train is in a block the train behind it can not enter that block and if the trains stack the ride will shut it self down(ex. set-up). It is pretty easy to fix though. Disaster Transport does it alot cause of all the trains. Try running out into a 200 degree metel box in polyester and up 45 stairs! (Right CrystalKat!?)
In the dark, with no flashlight, then answering the phone when you're out of breath... Sheesh! But we did it, CP-G-D -- 3 minute setup! *Grin*

The best bit about working on a coaster is definitely being in controls. Air-conditioned and no guests to 'deal' with. However it is a lonely place with only occasional phone calls from Park Op to keep you company, and of course, the cheeseburger!!!!!!!!!!!
cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger!!!!

That burger was the only thing that got us through the day sometimes. Working a coaster may be great but it sure can be depressing..........

Get your fixin's here!
Controls aren't always air-conditioned -- it depends on the coaster! Iron Dragon, Wildcat, Mine Ride, Blue Streak -- none of them have a/c.
