More downtime: 6/13

Well it looks like once again an incident at sixflags has caused a previously safe ride to shut down at CP.

Has anybody who went today seen any of the mechanics working on Dragster?
I know that the "said" part isn't in yet, I'm just curious.

And I know that I'm asking this question far in advance since anybody who is at CP won't be home to read this untill.... OH NEVERMIND!! you know what I'm talking about!!

Thanks in advance. :) *** Edited 6/15/2005 8:59:23 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

For anyone that has been at Cedar Point the last 3 days TTD has been down, could you tell me how long other lines are?

I was at CP on Tuesday and waited about an hour for MF, at 12:30pm.

Manits had about 45 minutes, and everything else was around 10-15.

I was there today, and besides Millennium Force and Mantis with their always rediculously long lines (God bless FreeWay!), Dragster being closed had no real affect on the other lines (all under 20 minutes). Granted, it was a weekday still fairly early in the season...

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

So, was there any activity at Dragster? Any mechanics wandering around/in the area doing anything?

Again I'm just curious.

I didn't see any visible activity at all today.

I saw a couple in the load areas on Tuesday, but I didn't see them working on anything.

can anyone that works at the park confirm or deny that TTD is only closed because of the KK breakdown? or, is that against board rules? i'm going this saturday and i'd love to know if they're really waiting on this mystery part or if they really closed it as a precaution in light of the kingda ka thing.

Its rediculous to say they closed a ride because there was a ride failure at a competitors park, thats obsurd. You shouldn't even need to ask that question. Its just.... duh. ;)

Why would Cedar Point stop a ride MID OPERATION with people on it and waiting in line JUST BECAUSE some other ride at some park in the US went down?

lol....

I expect TTD to be up soon. *** Edited 6/16/2005 10:59:33 AM UTC by pdhaudio83***

pdhaudio83, your post is rediculous unless you are kidding or joking. Every park would stop a ride mid operation if a clone or very similar ride had a major malfunction where a patron could get KILLED. Safety is and should be every parks priority - period.

FYI - SR is now rumored to be closed.

pdhaudio83 knows what they are talking about. The downtime with Dragster had nothing to do with Kingda Ka. The ride stopped mid ride with people on it a few days ago, which was after the KK breakdown had already happened.

The latest downtime, however, is purely mechanical.

Of course the current TTD downtime is mechanical, that is the issue with KK. I also realize TTD shut down after KK probably due to the fact it took time (days) to analyze the KK situation. If TTD opens today or tomorrow, I will be happy to admit my reasoning is flawed. However I suspect the two closures are related and TTD will be down for a while, though certainly no where near as long as KK.

I will just tell you that you are wrong, and they are completely unrelated.

Well the trains are on the track now. Although I know that doesn’t mean anything.... :(

But hey, you never know.

I bet they'll have it running by tonight or tomorrow.

Spell it with me...

RIDICULOUS

Note the word "ridicule" in it.

Yes.. I got my first front seat ride on TTD just a matter of hours ago. It was incredible. I noticed that 5 trains were on the track when we entered the park at 9 a.m., which kind of showed some hope, even though the signs all said that Top Thrill Dragster will not open today. I noticed the crew wiping down all of the trains, so my group and I went up to the entrance. We were about the 6th-9th people in the line. After a few tests(including a rollback and a near stalling on the top hat) we were led to the station and went right in to the first seat. It was incredible, and having to watch it stand broken for all of wednesday made the ride seem all the better. It was hitting awesome intervals, and only had about a 1 hour "hiccup" where it broke down.

I got in line today after it had that 1 hour hickup. And after everybody got out of line I walked right up and got in the station. Total wait time of 30 min. and I got my first launch of the year, and it was awsome. :} Then later on this evening, about 9:15 we got in line again and wouldn't you know it, rain. But it worked out ok, because after everyone got out of line again, presto, ride was open and I got launched on the first train, after a small catch car prob. that was quickly fixed by CP's wonderful maint. staff.

I too was in line around 9:00(must of just missed you) when it started to rain. Did you see that fight that almost broke out up on the ramp because I was right next to the guy(literally) when it happened? This was about 5 min before the rain really started to come down. I was so close to, but we(my sis and her boyfriend) left when the rain came down hard...... although I didnt want to leave:(. I did see it running again at about 9:50 when we were leaving but it was only 1 launch.

We got lucky too. I really didn't think it was going to be open yesturday.
