Monday - 6/18...great afternoon ruined by Tara

Ok went to the point again this afternoon and night with my sister her friend and my friend (Brad). Will try to make it short. The afternoon and evening were superb. Taking a newcomer to CP for new rides (that was my sisters friend who had never been on PT, MF, or Raptor). Getting great rides on Magnum, Mantis, Raptor, MF (1st ride).

This newcomer handled it perfectly. We hit Raptor first, Johnny Rockets, (where we got treated very very nicely due to another friend I know who works there...those dances are very interesting). Her hands were sweating before these new rides and afterwords pure excitement. It really reminded me of my first rides, alot of nerves then sheer excitement and wanting too reride again. Basically it was CP at its best a few lines were long but they moved quickly. Crews were hitting intervals pretty darn good, and the rides were delivering pure excitement for our CP newcomer. She enjoyed every second of it making the trip better for me and all involved. Just a awesome time.

So we get in line for MF for our second ride before closing. My friend Brad has a small curious george monkey with him (that he won on a game) I forgot that he had it and the MF op didn't see him have it or refused to stop him if he did see it. We walk through the hourish line get to the station and here I was a little disapointed. Tara our great and kind ride op pulls us to the side and says Brad can't ride with the monkey (hmm that doesn't sound good)...Um anyway, I can understand that we say ok no problem he will just go down the stairs and get rid of it until we get off. I can abide by the rules no toys on the rides, they can't go with you. Now the problem I have is this ride op was just plain Rude... All she said was you have to put it into a locker or you can't ride, and I have to see the key to the locker or you can't ride.....In the end he just did not ride.

Now that is just crap too me, sorry folks but that is a bad experience to me. If only I would have known a MF ride op good enough the outcome would have been different. This would have not happened on Raptor, Mine Ride, Magnum, or Mantis' station as I know those crew members pretty good. And no I purposely don't take things on a ride just because I know the crew members will let me get away with it, or try to break the rules.

Back to MF I knew I didn't have a case and there was no sense for me to get involved as I had nothing to fight her with. I understand that part that you can't take things in the line and honestly forgot brad had that monkey. I don't understand the rudeness (there was plenty of that), and the fact that it had to be in a locker with a key in your hand so I can see it or you can't ride. That is BS. And no we don't need to turn this thread into a lets bash the MF ride ops either. They are not all bad. Just a little aggravating to me, as our treatment was not the nicest. Heck we even had someone getting OFF the train (a little kid who chickened out in the station) offer to hold it for us and her answer was "NO it has to go in a locker". If that was the case she should be checking each person too make sure they have a locker key for items they put in a locker. I am not saying we were totally in the right here, as we were not; however I don't think she was totally in the right either. Well that is my story and I am sticking too it.

I have to say that this brings to mind a post I had read somewhere earlier about a guest claiming to be sexually harrassed on MF when a ride op attempted to help him with his seat belt,,, Did you happen to read this also?
Anyhoo,,,I am now thinking that perhaps the ride op was searching for his "monkey" and or locker key. Not neccissarily groping him for no reason.
just a thought......

If you couldn't even send the thing out with a chicken kid then that's a problem. That's just being an*****to people for the sake of being an ass. Show me the key? Please, is this third grade?

Futuristic bow-wow... do the dog catcher!
The problem is the two station set-up. They must find a way (other than coin lockers) to deal with this.

Don't let life fly by.
Actually, the rules state that you can leave them with a non-rider. So you should have been able to leave it with the kid (rules are rules). No where does it say you MUST put them in a locker. You should have asked to speak with someone in charge (manager) if she was really being that rude.

It's probably just another Nazi policy that they are told to enforce and nothing more. If you can get a Monkey up to the platform without someone stopping you, a medal should be given out.

If this was at lets say, SFWoA, this would have never been a problem. They probably would have let the monkey ride in its own seat and forget to check if it was tall enough. It would be cool to see a large monkey riding Millennium Force

That's funny (actually it isnt), but the whole key thing is absurd. What if you had just decided to throw it away? No key needed for that. That is so silly. Sorry to hear that Hooper.

P.S. Joe E. despite your obvious spite, I actually have seen one of these monkeys ride S:ROS @ SFA, in its own seat...in the front no less. Of course this was during an ERT though :)
Well, now that is funny. Would we ever see a Monkey riding a coaster at a Cedar Fair park? No. What 2Hostyl makes me think of more is how sometimes our beloved park is overregulated, like in this instance probably. They need to lighten up on some of these stringent policies.

If it is those BIG monkeys, I think it would have been tall enough to ride :).

I know who you're talking about, Matt.

She's a friend from home of a kid on my crew.

I don't really care for her much.

Hopefully the whole situation didn't ruin your afternoon too much. Just think how much different all the OTHER ops are in the park, both the ones that you know and the ones you don't. And then shrug it off as one bad person.

Hmmm... Monday night, we saw a Curious George monkey in the grass next to the exit walkway. SOMEBODY apparently didn't have to show their key. :)

I need a vacation to recuperate from my vacation.
Yup, Brad went down the stairs and put it next to the exit (not sure where, I didn't go with him). Upon his return we here I need to see a key from the locker you put it in or you can't ride. What do they really care heck he could have put it in the garbage. Upon that he said heck with it I won't ride. When we got off I saw him right at the exit awning with his curious george. And it's ok Natalie were over it. :) Oh yeah I did put a few good words in for Brad during that ride. hehehaha
