So all this came from a "power bump" that shut the system down? One would assume there are surge suppressors on the systems, so did they fail?

Power bump probably means a momentary power interruption, not a surge. I doubt the ride has a UPS connected to the control system.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
