Millennium stuck

Magnum-Man's avatar

Earlier today a train full of riders unexpectedly stopped towards the top of the lift hill. Unfortunately they were stuck in the rain and wind for over 2 hours. The park is doing the following to make it up to them

- $50 In gift certificates to come back to the park
-free pizza & click fila
-free park tickets
- 3 skip the line passes

Over 2 hours? Wow.

Kind of wish I was on it! I willingly waited to ride Gatekeeper in the wind and rain last year for an hour, so I'd take that severance package for 2 hours of my time on Millennium.

Being stuck on Millennium Force for two hours is a small price to pay for the greatness that is Chick-Fil-A.

Gross. No wonder Americans are so fat. That's barely passable as food.

I assume they had to do an evac, but it's strange that they waited that long to do it.

ITT: Potatoes are not food. Bravo everyone.

No wonder why people are starving in this country. If something is deemed unhealthy, it's not food.

There are people starving because someone told them they can't eat Chick-Fil-A? I don't think you understand the problem at all.

We were on the train in front of this one. After waiting for a storm to pass, we were asked to get on in front of a group so they could ride with their friends otherwise we would have been on this train. They had the elevator up within a few minutes and were evacuating people. An hour later we could still see a few people waiting. It was just a slow process, looked like they were taking 2 people at a time in the elevator.

Yea - I think it had more to do with the time it took to get it done. Two hours does seem a bit excessive though even if they are doing it 4 people at a time or whatever that vehicle can hold.

Does anyone know what happened to the ride? Wondering if there will be extended downtime. I am assuming it was not a cable break because there was a picture of the guests underneath the station after this happened. Maybe a lift motor or something?

If anyone but you had said this, there would have been an avalanche of hate soon to follow.

Anyone who was at the Coastermania luncheon, and watched the food hoarding commence, knows that Jeff is 100% right, especially where coaster enthusiasts are concerned. It was a sad sight, indeed.

36 people, 2 people per trip, 5 minutes per trip (and that's being quick if it was windy, rainy and truly slippery). 30 minutes to make the decision, 90 minutes to evacuate, two hours seems reasonable.

So Jeff is allowed to make a sweeping generalization while the rest of us are not? Someone saying that CFA tastes great by itself does not mean that they, or any other American, are "so fat". Although I am not a fan of CFA I think a lot of things taste great and yet somehow I manage to weigh in at a whopping 148 pounds on a 5'-9" frame. I think Montgomery Inn ribs taste great - I guess that qualifies me as "so fat" eventhough my measurements say otherwise.

The problem with Americans being fat has more to do with portion control than the type of food. We as a nation take in too many calories. It's OK to have a Big Mac for lunch, just skip the super sized fries and have a diet soda or water instead of a shake. Have a balanced diet and watch your calories, don't just shovel the food in.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Or (to tie into the original topic) get stuck on MF's lift hill for 2 hours--no calories up there. :)

This Isn't A Hospital--It's An Insane Asylum!

Now we know why the maintenance department put in those "enhanced" seatbelts over the winter!

Next thing they need to install is rain poncho's in the "New for 2015 (debit cart operated) in-train glove compartments".

Heck with that, give the Millennium Force trains a canopy like the old caterpillar rides. I'd love to see that as an April Fool's joke just for the reactions...

Ah yes, diet soda, the stuff that's worse than regular.

Portion control at an amusement park buffet? When they had lots of awesome new stuff to try (new to CM, anyway)? Some like to have one big meal in the park for the day. That hardly makes one fat. I ate a ton there, way more than usual. Two donuts even. I'm still 5'3", ~120lb. One buffet doesn't mean enthusiasts suck at eating.

Back on topic, I heard that the lift stop was due to lightning I'm the area. On what was likely to be the second to last set of trains for last night's ride night Dragster went down just as the first train hit the launch track due to nearby thunderstorms. :(

Nothing is bad for you in moderation. Everything is bad for you when you've had too much though. Including the beloved water we all need to live.
