Millennium stuck

Was the lift stop on MF an automatic thing when lightning is near? Seems like it would be safer just to let the train go through the course.

Yes, it would be alot safer to let the train finish it's run. I think this was a mechanical issue.

Ah yes, diet soda, the stuff that's worse than regular.

"Worse" is a meaningless term without context. If the aim is to consume fewer calories, diet soda is a better choice than regular.

Some like to have one big meal in the park for the day. That hardly makes one fat.

Not true. Aside from some other negative health effects, smaller meals throughout the day generally leads to better weight management. I thought this was pretty common knowledge.

I ate a ton there, way more than usual. Two donuts even. I'm still 5'3", ~120lb. One buffet doesn't mean enthusiasts suck at eating.

I'm curious as to how old you are. Based on the above, and the existence of "lyf" in your username, I'm going to guess you're at or under 30. At that age, it's not a major accomplishment to have a high enough metabolism to eat whatever you want. I could eat literally whatever I wanted in enormous quantities and not gain a pound when I was that age. Nowadays, that couldn't be further from the truth.

Studies have shown that people trick themselves into consuming more calories alongside diet soda, thus overriding any perceived benefits. It's loaded with even harsher chemicals than regular soda. It's worse overall with no context needed.

Most people don't go to the park that often. One big meal every so is not that bad.

My age is irrelevant. As I've said before, this username is from a much less mature version of myself that has long since passed.

But back on topic, please. Create a new thread if you'd like to discuss the eating habits of enthusiasts. :)

So it's not diet soda that's bad (which is what you said). It's that people are stupid. Big difference. :)

My age is irrelevant.

Not when you're suggesting that because you can eat huge meals without consequence, everyone else can too.

But back on topic, please.

Oh, sorry moderator. ;)

Brandon

One of my fears is getting stuck on a ride and desperately having to use the bathroom. Being a drinkaholic and a nearly-middle-age man, two hours is a long time without a bathroom break.

Without consequence? Hardly. On occasion and get away with it? Sure. Just like pretty much anyone else.

Not true. I eat a big meal when I go to the park. Age 46, male, 5'-9", 148 pounds. I don't see that eating that big meal several times over the course of the season is making me fat.

Hence the use of "generally" rather than "universally". :)

Brandon

No one was arguing that. A day in the park hardly factors into your generalization. :)

Forum readers are getting so picky that every post is going to soon require a bibliography, 3rd party proof reading, and reference validation check!
Fortunately, fishbone logic diagrams that support your hypothesis - are still optional though.

That's what I thought. ;)

Banshee stopped on the lift and it was newsworthy. Does anyone have an article about Millennium?

Not everything in the news is newsworthy.

Don't get carried away - your original diet claims are still as untrue as ever. :)

And no, this isn't newsworthy or especially exciting, hence the thread creep.

The ride stopped working. They'll fix it eventually. /thread

Sorry.. I was trying to avoid multiple winky post. It was all sarcasm. There was blogging more to their article, just a train on the lift, immobile.

Here you go: ;)

Hey look.. a comet that missed the Earth by a million miles, literally.

Different news story, same effect on the daily lives of the creatures on this planet. Move along.

Back on topic, I heard that the lift stop was due to lightning I'm the area. On what was likely to be the second to last set of trains for last night's ride night Dragster went down just as the first train hit the launch track due to nearby thunderstorms. :(

You heard?

So even if that were true, you're saying that instead of finishing out the ride in minutes, it's better to have them stay on the track, exposed to the elements, which includes lightning, for hours?

I hadn't stated an opinion at all. This was lift stop occurred before I got to the park. Someone mentioned it in passing at TTD's ride night.

I've ridden Millennium in full on rain before. It was cold and painful yet entirely awesome. No, I don't think they should stop the ride due to weather. The lift is likely the worst place to be stuck in rain.

If it was lightning it would've been quicker to bring the train back down, if the computer would allow it in manual. Empty in unload, empty in load, back those two up one block, and reverse the cable down the lift. The hill is the highest point on the ride so it's most likely to get struck. If the ride was still functional, I would think sending the train through the course to be the optimal option.

I don't buy that's why, I just passed along info as described.
