Millennium Force rolled back

Anyone who arrived at CP this morning probably saw the sign announcing that MF would be down all day. I assumed it was because of the high winds today, but later on, we spotted the blue train motionless on the island, where it had apparently rolled back. From what little we could see through the trees, it looked like it was about half loaded with dummies. Maybe a ride op can confirm this for me, but I think it had to have happened yesterday, since none of the rides were testing yet when we arrived this morning. I have a few pictures of the train, but they're not that great. If anyone's interested in seeing them, feel free to email me and I'll pass them along.

It rolled back because Millie does not like Physics day and she is still mad they took away the station music.

It's odd how it rolled back loaded with dummies. It's even more odd where it rolled back (on the island). At least is was not red train this time.

I'm starting to think they do it on purpose on physics day every year just as an educational lesson! :) Time to change back to the "good" wheels! ;) I doubt it happened yesterday - they'd have busted their butts overnight to get it ready if it was yesterday.

I can't imagine it's very easy to move a 19 ton train from the island back to the station overnight though..maybe they'll start working on it today so it's ready for the weekend
Wow, MF rolled back? That's surprising since it has the most speed of any coaster in the park and therefore the most momentum. Anyone know if it was the yellow train?

Magnum will always be #1

That's true - being on the island might make it more challenging. Leave it to me not to think. ;) MF sure is picky though. They heat the trains, load them with dummies and it still doesn't make it. (remembering seeing a Magnum train with the last car tipping back into the third tunnel on a windy morning - it rolled forward at least though. :))

CP Fan: I mentioned in the original post that it was the blue train. The yellow train was on the transfer track and red was in the station. They also put the MF logo decals back on the front of the trains, they look the same as last year. The roll-back must have been caused by a combination of the new wheels and wind resistance from those decals..hehe ;)
I think it's pretty funny that it happened on Physics Day (again)...especially becuase my school couldn't go. :) I'm pretty sure that stressed the capacity of the whole park pretty badly.

The trains are 28 tons...just a little more than 19. :) Also, I would bet you anything that if the train rolled back yesterday, with or without a lagoon in the way, they would have gotten the train reassembled by today. Last year Magnum's chain broke and it was already up and running the next day.

It was two years ago that Magnum's chain broke. We were all waiting for it to break last year and it never happened. :) I do think that it most likely rolled back this morning and not yesterday...

It's Just been a rough season for CP so far...Magnum from Hell, Millie Rollback, WT's rolling problems (not major), and finally raptor and magnum were also closed for Physics day today!!...At least we have the new attraction Speculation in Footier town...sorry about that bad joke!

Like I said, they work very fast to correct their mistakes; I guarantee it will be running fine tomorrow unless it rolls back again. ;)

Here's what I heard from a Paddle Wheel Excursion person named "Amber" Okay, the blue train was testing early this morning, and it got stuck on the island (obviously) anyways, the thing that got me was that it wasn't valleyed. it was actually stuck 1/2 way up the return camelback before the second station. I am thinking (here comes the smoke) that maybe something happened with the wheeles, becuase it sat there from about 5:30 pm, till I last it, with CP maintinance people working to get it back online, "Amber" also said that MF will be up tomorrow, Saturday. Make sure you read my trip report, some interesting things happened today.!

Something wrong with the wheels makes sense because I don't see it losing so much energy on the island that it can't crest a 100 ft hill after cresting a 182 foot hill. Maybe they do need to switch the wheels back. Also, stopping on the way up sounds pretty bad. That's like something fell down, made it screech to a halt and prevented it from valleying backwards. I hope there isn't any structural damage...

I want to drive the Zamboni!

The whole stopping halfway up thing could explain why there were matinence guys crawling around on top of the track over there today. It was weird to look over there and see people on top of the last hill.

Rob just said in another thread that they were ratcheting it over the hill, which is a lot better than my theory.

That's what I was thinking. I can't imagine anything strong enough that would be able to keep a 28 ton train stopped on a hill like you were describing! :)

Yeah, I wonder why they decided to go back to the early 2000 season wheels setup (when it ran like crap).I could not believe how slow my ride was opening day. I got zilch airtime on any of the hills except the first.
