MI Adventure is Cedar Point's ugly step-sister

I've been there before, to MIA, and it wasn't anything great. I liked shivering timbers, that's about it, however....

Grand Rapids is pretty lame actually, quite small and the only place you get soaked is coming out of the station around the waterfall.I am not sure if people realize how much Space is there at MA to expand, there is s ton. The trail already exist for the new midway, it is basically a two track right now in with one end being completed waiting to be connected at the ST area. Another plan was to build a light house point type camping area there. IMO they need more attractions to make those worthwhile. As far as CF building railroad crossings and having them manned at MA. GO for it... we have 15.2% unemployment rate... Could we see Demon Drop relocated here?

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

^ I highly doubt DD would be staying in-company.

^ yea when DD is removed from CP that will be the end of her.

Matt, I agree with you Grand Rapids is a lame rapids ride, and yes they have a butt load of room to expand.

With the way their attendance has been for the last two years (growing) I bet we can expect some new attractions sooner than later. But before that do anything they need to restructure their midways and number one is their parking, especially if they are going to try to turn MIA in to a mega park like Cedar Point which is very possible.

Did the water and sewer lines ever get expanded to them? My understanding is that the back corner where there's "room to expand" is the septic field. Don't want to be building a ride on top of that.

Septic field + roller coaster = bad...

Sorry you had such a bad time. It's good to vent.

I too went recently with Platinum Passes and also surprised the park at different booths. Weird, I thought I would have paved the way for you.

My ordeal only lasted a few minutes. The park was not that busy. We had an absolute blast. The lines were very short. Park was clean. Everyone was nice. I did not notice the crack in Sea Dragon, ouch...

There are a number of rumors about will happen at MIA, the lastest now is that Planet Snoopy will make its arrival.

MiA is my family's home park, as we live exactly an hour away. This is our 3rd summer of having Platinum Passes, always issued at MiA. We're used to having to go to Guest Relations at every other park we visit, learned upon our first CP visit 2 summers ago. KI last summer was the same. 2 weeks ago a CW parking attendant wanted me to pay for parking since my pass wouldn't scan--until I pointed out the Platinum Pass logo. All 3 days at CW we had to wait in the Guest Services line, up to 20 minutes, and each day they handled differently how to get us into the park (2 days with different-coded Comp Tickets, and 1 day just by hand stamping us).

So maybe MiA isn't quite on the same system yet...but my experiences are that Platinum Passes from MiA cause confusion at other parks similar to what Lila experienced at MiA. Not a big deal, just expect a few extra minutes to overcome this and then you're set. To paraphrase the famous saying, "A bad day at an amusement park is still better than any day working!"

MiA isn't the caliber of a "destination" park, but it serves us well. I look forward to watching it grow in the coming years, whether it be with more rides, adding even one show, more shops, etc. But I expect CF has to watch their price point here in Michigan...at $26 daily admission (before any discounts), MiA is precisely a "small" park at an economical price. (Alas, we pay the same for our Platinum Passes as what the rest of you do.)

For what it's worth, my family of four (my son's still a junior, so can't do the big rides yet) ranks the CF parks we've visited as follows:

1. KI (awesome for kids, great waterpark with no breeze ever off a Great Lake, and fairly flat terrain for walking...important when doing 4 straight days!)

2. CP (probably will move up when my son can do all the coasters)

3. MiA (okay, familiarity and frequency of visits makes me biased...and that fact that almost always rides outside the waterpark are walk-ons most days)

4. CW (more rides than MiA, and has shows, unlike MiA...but kids area in the back of the park? Tiring on little legs! And lots of walking up and down hills to get around.)

(Dispatch Master Transport: My car was one of those in the lot the last day at MiA last year, in the rain, with no coasters going. And my daughter and son still enjoyed the day, until we were so chilled that my son's teeth were chattering. But the closing weekends in '07 were awesome, with walking on to everything!)

That's my two cents.

Wasn't always like that. I used to get my season pass at Michigan's Adventure for precisely the reason that it was cheaper (and I live 45 minutes away). Going through guest services at the Magnum entrance was worth the money saved by getting a MiAdv pass rather than a CP pass.

The water lines did as they built the water tower for it. I'm not entirely sure if the sewer lines did.

I am almost positive that when they put in the water tower they removed the septic tanks.
