I want to comment on something that disgusted me today. Anyone who was there knows that the event did not start at the planned time for coaster club members. I'm unsure why. But I grew irritated hearing all the bitching and moaning in line waiting to get in.
Everyone I talked to had a sense of entitlement about what they should be getting. "Are we just getting a crappy hoody?" and "if they're not starting on time they should at least be bringing us out drinks". People were complaining to Tony several times just that I heard.
Folks, the park doesn't owe us anything. The park is not obligated to invite us, open additional rides ("why aren't more rides open"?), give us free food, drinks, and swag. If people keep acting this way, I wouldn't be surprised to see this practice discontinued.
For those of you who bitched, and you know who you are, grow up and stop acting like spoiled children.... you'll ruin it for the rest of us.

This. I totally agree, we should be grateful the park let us attend in the first place, then to add all this additional stuff FREE

Well, as long as they're Idaho potatoes...
I thought they were tasty, but it seemed like Old Bay on bowling alley crinkle cut fries to me. Not that there's anything wrong with that. The cheese sauce was good. There was a Chickie and Pete's man there who said it was some kind of cream cheese blend or something.
This year's media day event was nice, certainly not the big splash of last years, but well suited for an addition of this kind. I love Cedar Point for letting so many food outlets practice on us.
Thanks to all who made it possible for us to attend.
I love my hoodie.
A few points -
The Crabby Fries are totally addicting and delicious, and the cheese sauce that comes with them is fantastic.
The hoody is a very nice gift, and totally generous of the park to give it to us - for those complaining, may you have moths in your closet.
The Gemini Midway is beautiful, the level of detail of new areas surpasses things CP has done in the past.
The free food and drinks at NUMEROUS locations in the park, including table service at Chickies and Pete's, is very generous and appreciated. As are the coaster rides on Blue Streak and MF. Basically the entire park was open to stroll through, stop and eat and ride a couple coasters. They don't have to do half the stuff they do to have a nice event.
The whining coaster enthusiasts were the minority, at least what I noticed. But, those ungrateful few should be very ashamed of themselves.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
MaverickLaunch - let me first say - I agree with you completely. Not only was I pleased to get any gift, for those with children Tony had stuffed Snoopy dolls which any kid would rather have instead of a piece of clothing.
Complaining about a gift? There is just no excuse, that is plain rude. I was thrilled they had XXL size for me and I actually really like the sweatshirt.
Tony plans great events. I am pretty sure he was a major reason the KI event was so cool. I sure hope CP understands what an asset they have in him and compensate him accordingly.
At the end of the night I had a really nice conversation with a gentleman named "Steve" who had a badge stating 12 years with CP. Seemed to be in Operations or Ride Maintenance. Seemed to know everything about keeping the coasters operational. Real nice guy...any idea who I was talking to and what his position is? He was dressed like an administrator not in a CP uniform.
