Although I love the sight of it, I can´t stand riding it. But I know some of you are MS fans, and this is not to upset you ;)
When do you think Mean Streak will be dismantled?
I´ve never seen a queue over 15 minutes for that ride, and my assumption is, that most people find the ride being too painful to ride. Do you think its unpopularity have any influence on when it´s going to be torn down? Would you like to see it replaced by an Intamin or GG woodie?

I waited 30 minutes last October. I can't see CP knocking it down in the near future.

I doubt they'll remove it anytime soon, it being so big is a part of that.
I rode it last time I was there and I had a really good ride, it was packed with laterals and had a little bit of airtime too.
All they need to do is retrack the entire ride, and it'll make it smoother, and get rid of the trims on the first drop...

If Dave (Rideman) is reading, he'll agree with the getting rid of the awful headrest.

That´s what I thought. I was just wondering if you guys think it´ll be dismantled prior to its "lastability".

I thought they DID retrack MS. And that it didn´t help that much. http://www.martin-vleminckx.com/mv_en/realizations.htm
^I didn't know they retracked it. What year was that?

I don´t know what year. Hell, I don´t even know if it´s true. All I know is what the company "Martin&Vleminckx" has listed under "Wodden coaster retracking": Mean Streak and Blue Streak.
It didn't feel like it when I rode them...

I can see MS being removed sooner than they would have originally thought, but certainly not any time soon. Since it was built in '91, I'd say it still has a long life ahead of it. It also makes Frontier Town come together in my opinion, and still many people enjoy riding it.
Thrills Around the Corner!
Does anybody else feel the trains are part of the problem at all? I did a 4-ride-in-a-row mini marathon of Mean Streak the last time I was at Cedar Point. They were running all three trains, and I went right back into the queue each time I finished the previous ride. Managed 1 trip on green, 2 trips on red, 1 trip on gold. I rode the back seat each time. Red was GREAT both times, green not bad, and gold sluggish and painful. And can anybody tell me why the 2nd drop bounces so much? You'd think one of the smaller drops wouldn't be that painful. I know the visual beauty is part of why I enjoy Mean Streak so much, but unlike most people who say it is too painful to ride, the bouncing (is that what they mean by washboarding?) is the only problem I have with MS. I'd take a bad ride on Mean Streak over an average ride on The Boss any day.
We continually hear these posts about how rough Meanstreak is, but I don't get it. I know we all different levels of comfort, but is it really that bad.
I was lucky enough to make a trip to Kings Island last year, and both the Beast and the Son of Beast were much rougher. The Son of the Beast seat and lap bar had to have been the most uncomfortable coaster I have ever been in. During parts of the ride I actually felt muscles knotting/stretching in my back!
So I say, don't remove any current coaster until it either is at the end of its life, or it is absolutely needed for the space.
If we base it just on "fun" level, remove DT, Corkscrew, Iron Dragon. Screw the little kids and tamer crowd. :-)
Ive said this before, but on opending weekend my wife and I (who both personally never enjoy it) always give it a shot, and we both noticed a difference this year.
There is a difference this year...
Yes, although I wish the trims on the first drop would go away... the laterals are much more intense now... and i even felt a slight float here and there...

Yuck steel. If they tear down MS, I would hope another great wooden coaster creation would go in its place.
Just speculation. But, if they do tear it down(not saying they will) that would make room for another coaster, which could become intertwined with the new one we have been posting so furiously about.:)
This is a stretch and I know it, but it could be possible.
