gemini is a dueling coaster, but not your conventional dueling coaster...the 2 trains race each other... and then those 2 trains duel with the next 2 trains in the circut...if you dont believe me check it out for your self... or someone else could back me up...its true... gemini is a dueling ,racing coaster

yes, meansteaker, i agree....it is dueling. personally, i'd rather have this non-convential way then the normal dueling style. the deuling dragons was not exciting in the least bit to me. it seemed to put a large amount of stress on your body, and i just dindt' find it to be an exciting coaster. dueling, racing is better

is it really worth it to continue to invest millions into maintenance of the ride year after year??

Yes. It is. I personally look forward to riding MS every year, and I'm sure others feel the same way. The cost is no reason to tear this ride down - They had to of known the costs back when they built it.

Of course, I didn't say they should tear it down, now did I? I think it would be more worth it to look at redesigning the sections that are tearing the ride apart...and go from there.

Not to sound sadistic, but anyone ever imagined a wooden coaster of that size catching fire? If CP and Sandusky Fire Departments couldn't contain that in time, that critter would be one heck of a bon fire.

when i rode it on the 19 the trims were on but not real hard. made it through the first turns at a good pace. maybe 55mph at the bottom

The Matrix: Reloaded!

Mean Streak is a great ride. Not as rough as S.O.B. at PKI. but a great woodie. To those who want to tear it down for being to rough go ride the coaster I just posted then try coming back and complaining about MS being too rough.

I agree that MS is not the roughest woodie out there (that award goes to Villain), and that it even has a few redeeming qualities like a beautiful structure, long layout, and one pop of air. Why should CP keep a ride around that really isn't bringing much to the park? I can't tell you the amount of people that avoid MS due to it's "roughness". The ride really never has much of a wait, and it just doesn't draw like Magnum, Gemini, heck even Iron Dragon. I don't hate MS, but I think CP needs to give it a rest and build something that gives woodies a good name. They don't even have TAER IT DOWN., just please bring some good wood to the park!
Villain, rough? whatcha talkin' bout? Mean Streak, rough? yep. Mean Streak, good ride? yep. Tear down Mean Streak? nope. Why? refer to previous question titled "Mean Streak, good ride". there are your answers.

Well at least I dont get bloody knees when I ride mean streak. Last week I had drew blood from riding villin(ouch). And if you want to talk about rough coasters, just go ride son of beast, or raging wolf bobs. I bet you a buffalo nickle that if you rode sob and rwb your oppiniun about mean streak being a ruff ride will change.
Wow, I can't agree more about the roughness of Son of Beast. I heard PKI tried to improve it in the offseason, but it seems just as horrible as ever to me. Son of Beast and Mean Streak are not in the same class at all. Mean Streak has a very smooth track layout but just has that traditional jumpiness; I hear the general public always talking down on Mean Streak about how painful it is, and I just don't get it, especially if you're in the front seat...it seems smooth to me. I really like Mean Streak, but I will admit, it was much better in its opening year. Son of Beast on the other hand...what a disaster for King's Island. That ride is truly painful; it jolts you violently the whole ride.
Ffej, you are absolutly right. i dont see what all the whining is about. Mean Streak is a VERY good ride. and ya wanna know what's even better about it? VERY short lines.

All in all, the park has to weigh the scale. On one side, you keep Mean Streak, continue to invest millions of dollars into the ride, adding improvemetns here and there. On the other side, you tear down and/or redesign the ride so that you don't have the maintenance costs you do now...

o wait so you didnt say tear it down neo...i think you forgot about what you said now that every one is flaming you

well, like raging wolf bobs, mean streak is far too slow abd boring to be that painfull.

villain is smooth as glass, the thing that sucks about it is the restraints are too narrow and hug your legs so when your going around the turns your legs take a beating.

cant speak for sob though, i have no interest in riding it either. i think there is a such thing as too big and when you make a wooden coaster too big, and use helixes and a loop as your only element your asking for trouble.

I think that the GP complains about rides like Mean Streak, Mantis, and Cedar Creek Mine Ride as being rough because they have no clue about how rough other coasters can be. Many of them only attend one park a year, and most of the coasters at CP are smooth as silk.

With the ride Mean Streak gives compared to a ride MF gives, it seems like it's rough. They all expect the same smoothness from all the rides.

The Matrix: Reloaded!

CP_bound, I totally agree with you...People that compare wooden roller coasters to steel coasters are the ones complaining. And for that reason, I think CP has put the idea of a new wooden coaster on the back burner.

I must admit though, while Mine Ride and Mean Streak don't bother me in the least, Mantis is hell for me. My legs encounter that harsh pressure pain (the worst part), my head gets banged violently, and the CP reps always push the seat up a notch higher than I adjusted it, and it kills me down there. I wish Mantis was never built (completely my opinion).

The manly injuries on Mantis... I can't even share mine with you guys... Perhaps you might of been there the night I waddled all the way to first aid for a bag of ice. Everyone at the laser light show whom noticed me walking by kind of gave me funny looks. Probably wondering why my face was purple, and I was walking bull legged.

Hey be nice..I worked Mean Streak for 2 years!! She's like my mother.. Rough, Mean, and will cramp your style if you're not careful! But like I love my mother, I will always love Meanie.
yeah, sob really really hurts. especially in the back of the car! it is most of the time to the point of overpowering the ok ride it delivers. i've found that every "big kid" ride other than drop zone, delirium, slingshot (you have to ride it, it is amazingly wonderful and one of the top 10 rides i've ever been on), and skyride hurt at pki. please feel free to disagree, i'm feeling up to a debate, but my point is cp felt so good because i could enjoy all of the rides because i felt no pain (not much pain i should say).
