Well, I guess if the trims are on again, they must have just been out of order for some reason on the two days I got trimless rides. It was definitely a real treat... would be nice if it happened more often!
I seem to recall getting a trimless ride shortly after a rain storm somewhere around 03-04. Sadly I haven't had one since.
Although the fact that that particular ride was good enough for me to remember all these years later says something.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I just came back from a short, 30-minute visit at CP, and I didn't have a chance to ride Mean Streak, but man could I hear it. Now I know that Mean Streak has made this squealing noise in the past, but I hadn't heard it in the last few years much.
I notice Beast at King's Island goes through these squealing cycles too. Some years MS & Beast are as quiet as can be, and other years you can just hear the loud squealing throughout the park. Does anyone know what this is caused by, and why it comes and goes? I'm going to guess that it means not enough oil on the track, so you're hearing the metal-on-metal screeching?
Yes, if they have enough lube on the track you won't hear the screeching.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I won't be back at the Point until two visits in October, but from the discussion in this thread, it seems like the improvements have not aged well. I will certainly be giving it another few rides in October to see for myself, but what's the current perspective? Has it slowly crept back to its old form?
Promoter of fog.
based on something I witnessed when I worked at Cedar Point and accidentally walked into an unauthorized area, I WILL NEVER GO ON MEAN STREAK!
I'm too sexy for my harness!
I think the improvements are aging OK. The only really bad spot on the ride is in the valley between the second and third hill, which I don't think was retracked. It's getting so bad that I hope they fix it during the season. Other than that, I don't find the ride to be very rough by wood coaster standards, the bouncing around that it does actually improves a somewhat dull layout IMHO.

What did you see? Ya can't leave us hanging ;~)
I'm betting that it involved wood.
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.
What's with the trick track right after the first turn?
I know it's not trick track, but it felt like that. Aside from that portion of the ride it was allot better than last year.
I only went on it once though. I Quit while I was ahead.
I was in the front seat.
