Supposedly Mean Streak had some significant track work during the off-season, so for those that have ridden it, what were your thoughts?
Also, there have been plenty of threads bashing the layout, pacing, and ride in general, so let's keep this about whether or not there are noticeable changes or improvements over last year, etc.
I went on it today and I gotta say, it is exactly the same as it was last season. No noticeable changes. Although, one of the ride hosts was quite entertaining.
As has been stated before, none of the off-season work they do will ever change the ride experience.
Period.

I guess this will go against everything that was just said, but noticed a difference between the drop, first hill, and second hill. The first hill was completely re-tracked and it feels a lot smoother this year compared to past years.

^ So what you are saying is that the last 90% of the ride is still a gigantic pile!?
Beeeeehhhhhhh!!!!!

Excellent...happy to hear this perspective, Andrew!
And I disagree that whatever work they do to Mean Streak won't change a thing. Sure there are certain elements that will always be problematic, like what RideMan describes with the first overbank.
However, I always ride in the very front seat, and there have been seasons where the train wheels felt square. There are other seasons when the ride feels smooth sailing and fun. Last year I had a great ride on Mean Streak actually. It was possibly my favorite ride experience the day I visited even, as I was surprised.
ToikaX3 is wrong, this year brings a big improvement to Mean Streak. They replaced A LOT of track in the off season, the ride is very rideable now, and riders actually cheered today when the ride op asked "how was your ride". I know a lot of people knock the layout, but the ride actually reminds me a lot of Mean Streak's first season now, a very rideable cruiser, not a lot of air but still an enjoyable ride that no longer beats the crap out of you. Rode it three times today.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I rode second car front row on gold and thought the ride seemed faster than before. Much quicker through the layout. The first turn is pretty smooth now and seems to slam the train less from one rail to the other during the turn.

Oh great, now I have to suspend my lifetime self-ban and try it again. It better be worth it, peeps!

Mike, try it in the very front seat. I think you'll see it in a different light. I know it's tempting when all rows are empty and there is a 4-train wait for the front, but it's worth it!
I guess I am going to have to do the same Mike. lol. I hope these ride testaments are the truth. I'm going to be one unhappy and hurting guest if other wise.

Yes the trim was still on when I rode last night, but a few said that most of the morning was trim less. But even with the trim it still seemed faster than years prior.

Yes, I've ridden it in the front seat many times before, and received both good and not-so-good rides. But a coaster should deliver decent rides no matter where you sit in the train, not just the front.

I want to believe all of you, but I have been fooled before.
Like Ensign, I said goodbye to Mean Streak a few seasons ago after giving it try after try after try.
Damn you all for lighting a spark of hope.

Maybe some of you got good rides, I don't know. But my ride was just as painful as the rides I got last year.

Oh I agree completely. I was just hoping you'd ride in the front to give it the best possible chance of a tolerable, fun ride. :)
I better watch out...there's probably going to be a mile-long line to the front now and every other seat empty. ;)
