Well it looks like i am going to have to give it a whirl and just see for myself, I expect a little roughness!!! as i do on all wood coasters! But wouldn't you think they would try different top side wheels like nylon or urethane and spring tension for the guide wheels but..........
Like i said i will just have to see for my self thanks for the insight!!!cause i avoided that ride after a while due to the roughness.
Being a Ride Warrior is just not a job!
It's a way of life!!!
I have ridden the all the coasters at K.I. and C.P. that i have lost count!!!!! and it is not the amount of times i have ridden, it is just the joy of riding them for me!!!!
The first hill had trims yesterday. It was smoother going into the first turn, but after that it would washboard at the bottom of any of the hills. It didn't feel any better or worse to me than it has in years prior. We did a front row ride and we left unhappy and hurt. Green Train is off the track in pieces in the gravel area at the bottom of the lift hill.
Yesterday was my one and only ride for the season.
I rode the Mean Streak yesterday, and it was by far the most enjoyable experience I have ever had while on that ride. It was actually rather smooth, and I think, as strange as this may sound, I had fun on the Mean Streak. Both times I was in the front of the train, but nevertheless, it was kinda cool. I rode it twice, and didn't need to see a chiropractor today. I think they have it figured out a little bit.

Mean Streak was significantly smoother and more enjoyable this weekend than before. Not only the track work helped, but the trains have been completely overhauled too. It's not by any means comparable to a smoother new style wooden coaster, but it felt better and I did not get a headache... we'll see how it holds up throughout the season.
I think MS was running great this weekend (relative to previous years). As many have said, there has been a significant amount of re-tracking. The 2nd banked turn is still pretty rough, but other than that I think it's a major improvement. I rode it twice this weekend in 2 different seats (one was front row), and it was fine both times.

In the past couple years I had ridden in the front row and found it to be barely tolerable. I only got 1 ride today also in the front row. This was the smoothest ride I have EVER gotten on Mean Streak "Bar None". I had been doing a once and done every year. I will definitely ride again in different rows to see how it rides elsewhere.
With todays rain the wood was nice and soaked making it very easy to see where the new wood was. I was shocked to see how much had been done. In addition to the ride receiving the love, I know for a fact that both PTC trains were completely rebuilt at the PTC shop this year. It was their first time back at the factory since the rides opened.
It may have been the rain, but I feel like it was running faster. Though with how smooth it was, it probably was. All the banging around has to slow the train down.
It's still not a ride to brag about. But, I think the GP will be a lot more receptive to the ride now.

Mean Streak is infinitely more ride-able than it was last year. Unfortunately, it's still Mean Streak and it's still pretty boring. I only rode it once around the middle of the train and didn't notice any jack hammering like what it's done in the past. If you look at the ride from Challenge Park, you can tell the overall shape of the first turn has changed quite a bit. However, you can still feel the car fall against the inside rail during that turn, which as Rideman has pointed out, is the cause for a lot of the issues on this ride.
The really big story for this year in my opinion is Blue Streak. Holy crap does it kick butt now! :)
I didn't ride MS at all last year.. and was a bit nervous to try it out yesterday.. (I wasn't planning on riding it but..Wicked Twister, Max Air, MF, Raptor, Wild Cat, TTD were all down) but I was pleasantly surprised. Now its obviously not gonna be like a new steel coaster.. But for being an older woodie it sure is an improvement.
I would recommend trying it this year if you haven't in a while. You may be in for a surprise!
EDIT: I forgot to say that only one train was running yesterday. The line was short, but it still took a good 15 minutes since the track is oh-so long!

Ensign, they didn't fix the boring. But, they did make it about as smooth as it can be.

Amen to that !!! Now if they can just bottle up the way Blue Streak was ruinning this weekend and keep it that way until CoasterMania you would not see me leave it during its ERT time. The rehab trains look great (except for those bright orange things called a lapbar and the black headrests!)
Coasterfanatic 2012 and I rode it together and, like he said, it was rather enjoyable. We rode it together in the front seat last year and it was painful as can be, but the front seat this year was very nice. In fact, Mean Streak was the only coaster we rode twice on opening day. It was really fun and actually look forward to riding it again.
EDIT: Also the green train is still in parts, and is laying next to the ride. From what I saw, I do not believe it will run this year.
