Mean Streak 2010

I rode today in the front seat of the gold train and had the best ride that I've had in a long time. No discomfort at all.

Any sign of the Green Meanie yet or is it retired for the season.

Did the other coasters receive their missing trains yet?

I saw Corkscrew's third train down on skids next to is, near the lift hill. No sign of the green train for Mean Streak.

I've noticed the back seat of any car on Mean Streak feels much rougher because your butt is directly over the road wheels. You feel every bump as opposed to the front seat of a car where your feet are over the road wheels and your butt is actually somewhat centered between the front and rear road wheels. Much smoother.

This is why I like posting on these boards; you learn something new. I assumed that being in the same car, the ride quality would be comparable for all 4. I figured it'd be much different if you were in say the second car, as you'd have to deal with the forces from the first car.

I can't wait to force my friends to ride Mean Streak again with me....this time them in the front/front, and me in the front car/back to see if they actually were right.

That tends to be the case with most wood coasters. Even when I want a back of train ride, I will take the second last row. On 3 bench PTC's the middle row of a car tends to be the smoothest. The only 4 bench I ever rode was Coney Island's Cyclone. I don't understand why some people rave about that ride so much. Even in a middle seat, I found it to be nearly intolerable. When I rode in the back seat of the back car, I though my spine was going to collapse. The jack-hammering at the bottom of the hills was insane. Though I'd still rather ride that than the now defunct Hurricane at Myrtle Beach Pavilion. It blows my mind that Hurricane was only a 6 year old ride.

Agreed about the Coney Island Cyclone! I was soo excited to get to ride that after reading and watching videos of its history earlier in my life and how great it was. Finally rode it a couple years ago, and OUCH! I'd love to see the people that complain about Mean Streak ride that...

I am not a whiner...but that was the first time I've had fear of being harmed from a roller coaster. The jolting on my spine was so painful. I couldn't believe it was operating in that condition.

I was at the park yesterday and took a chance on the giant mean one. Gold train, 3-1. Even using defensive riding techniques, it felt like a frackin' root canal on wheels.

I hope the green train is back on while I'm there in a couple weeks. The gold train is a little meaner than the other two.

The green train is just sitting in the mean streak junk yard. Looks like it has been sitting there all winter and not even rehabed yet.

I saw it there too. I doubt it will run this year.

I was back at the park on Friday evening and, using Vince's tip, rode gold train front with my daughter. It was quite simply the best ride I've ever had on MS. From now on, it's the only spot to ride it.

Front Red was good too.

I was impressed with Mean Streak. The only thing that was really bad was having to wait 45 minutes for it in the afternoon. The two train thing isn't working that well.

Well, it barely keeps from stacking with 2. If you had 3 it would almost definitly be stacking. Not because the ride ops can't keep up. But, because of the publics inability to get in and out of the train quickly.

^How is the train stacking if there are 3? Only one train sits on the blocks for like 20 seconds. It's not like Mantis when they ran three trains.

I rode a couple times yesterday and y the time the train in the station was leaving, the next train was puling in less than 10 seconds later. If there were 3 trains, you'd be sitting in the brake run for at last 3 minutes. There is no benefit or increase in productivity there.

^ They are working slower now because there is no need to hurry up to let the train out of the station when the other train is on the mid course brake run. It seems that you haven't rode Mean Streak in the 08-09 season when you sat on the break run for 20 seconds. Maybe you should get your facts straight because because there was only 1 time I can think of when i sat on the break run for more than one minute.

Don't be an ass. You don't know anything about Jason, let alone his ride habits and experience.

Over the years, I personally have sat and waited on the brake run for MS for minutes at a time, many times, while trains were stacked.

If they ran 3 trains the way they were running these 2, you would be sitting there for a lot more than 20 seconds. I see your point about not needing to work faster. But, like I said, it wasn't the employees, it was the patrons. I don't think they could have gotten the train out faster even if they wanted to.

Well, I know when I was there on opening day, It took me at least 20 seconds to get my seatbelt buckled.

Oww...I was at the park on Tuesday, and Mean Streak delivered some jackhammering worthy of SOB's rose bowl. The bottom of every hill delivered nothing but pain. I woke up this morning with upper-back pain, and honestly can't think of anything else to which it could be attributed.

I'd have to say that it was the worst ride I've ever had on that thing, and the lengthy wait (30+ minutes) only added insult to injury.
