Mean Streak '06

I worked MS last year and I will be back this year, both the TL and ATL are cool...and yes we have the best supervisors ever, Joy and John are awesome.

I havnt been her ein a few days so I didnt see this topic until now.

About the housing, I lived in commons and cecdars, I didnt like any of them to be honest, I like my privacy and alone time so i can just sit back and relax while listening to my XM radio (which wouldnt work in my cedars room because my window was the opposite of what the antenna had to be) so I will probably live at commons the first month, during that month I am apartment hunting and hopefully I can find something in a decent price range to move into.

I'll see you there! If radio reception was your only problem with Cedars then I think I won't have a problem then. That sucks about your XM though, don't you have to pay like $13 a month for that?

Thats right... I never really have a problem with XM reception where ever I go.. besides, they give you enough antenna wire to stretch it anywhere you would like.

my problem was my room was facing power tower and was like 50 feet away from wild cat, along with that the window was north they recomend the antenna facing south and i couldnt climb up the wall to put the antenna on the roof, and someone ripped it down one time when i did have it up so it was pointless to even try...

but yes, best 13 a month anyone can spend.

I've tried, more than once. Every time I listen to them I just think to myself, "this is funny?"

It's good to see that someone with enthusiasm is going to be on my crew this summer. :-)

Mean Streak is a really great ride to operate...people can debate all they want about how fun it actually is to ride, but as far as operation goes, it's really nice.

I came to MS last summer after about a month of working on Mine Ride--it was really like a breath of fresh air. At the time, I could think of so many things about the ride that absolutely rocked....

1. Control room with A/C.
2. Rotating positions every half hour and a variety of tasks in those positions usually kept the long days from getting boring.
3. The combination of being tucked away in the back of the park and MS not agreed upon as a very fun ride keeps it from being too busy. That's not to say that it never gets crowded or accumulates a line, but it's...rare. At least before late July/August.
4. The view of the lake is pretty nice and you can see the sunset every night. You can also see when a storm is coming, which can be exciting.
6. MS has its own midway--it's easy to point out where the ride exit is when you're at entrance, and the guests who come to ride are generally pretty cool because their only reason to come back there is to ride. As a result, you get few children who are too short to ride.
7. All three trains can stack in and behind the station, so there's never a hurry to dispatch the trains.
8. MS is a huge coaster--guests don't/can't make fun of it.
9. It's not easy to miss a seatbelt or lapbar and then get in trouble for it.

Probably the best thing about MS, though--at least from last summer--was that the crew was really awesome. At the end of the day, that's what it all comes down to. Hopefully we'll get another set of cool people this summer. :-)

When it comes to housing, it all depends on what's important to you--location or comfort. I chose location last summer (Gold--the girls' on-Point dorm) and never regretted it, what with the 8 - 12 hour days. I didn't mind it--the condition of the building only made me feel like I was at summer camp. :-P

Oh, and who could forget those massive crew split trips to the chineese buffet.....good times, good times.

Hey there guys i just wanted to say welcome abord the best crew in zone 4 or should i say zone 5 since we are all alone in the back now. I can not wait to meet everyone on the crew. I will be at the park for training week which is the week before we open and then will be weekends til i am done with school in June i become full time on the 12th.

Can not wait to see every one and we are going have such a bast back at the biggest woodie in the park. WE TOTALLY ROCK THE ZONE AND AREA.

Our sup team is the best by far John and I have known each other since my first summer in 2002 and i love joy she us such a trip you will love them both.

I'll see you guys when I process in on June 5. Sounds like the crew is great and that is something I think makes the job that much better.

BTW, be nice to the Group Utility guys. Without us, the park would stink to high heavan, with garbage, that is.

fourth, MS is the greatest ever, and if my shoulder is messed up enough that i need to quit my job(or i just end up quiting) i would be back in a heartbeat.
