When I visited CP in early June, I rode MS to see if anything was better. It wasn't. I found that the roughest part of the ride (and it seemed to vary depending on the train I was on) was when you bottom out after a hill. The vertical vibration was almost too much to bear.
You know, you look at this ride and want it to be good (it is an impressive sight), but it isn't. I wonder if Kinzel regrets putting in MS as much as he does TTD (which I love).
I don't know about Top Thrill Dragster, she's been running good the last few years. Very reliable. Mean Streak I think they should do what Kennywood did with Steel Phantom and just maybe re-do the course a little. Save the first hill but re-engineer the first drop and second and third hills. Seems to me like those are the roughest parts of the whole ride.
Make that three. Timberwolf at Worlds of Fun was once a great ride. Today, it causes shaken rider syndrome.
A trip in June brought me to both CP & KI. MS was a little rough, but it was good (with all of the comments, i wish i could have ridden it in it's early days). SOB was closed and didn't get to ride it.
I would like to know whereabouts the ride exactly valleyed at.
The majority of the people in this thread have it right: There is a problem with this ride when it comes to riding the ride, the speed of the ride and the physics of the ride.
The attendance of the ride has been under 900 K the last four years and under 1 M the last 6. But, I just can't help but think that CP has so many other coasters and such enormous attendance that they really don't feel as much of a financial hit (if any) that a smaller park would.
Off of complete personal opinion, I suspect that nothing major will be done to that ride for a while, even though I would be giddishly ecstatic if they tore it down and built an epic woodie with those new couch trains and renamed it Mean Streak. Or something hilarious like Mean Streak II: Beach Justice.
I was at the park yesterday. While driving back to the Soak City lot I noticed Mean Streak not testing in the morning at 10 and all the trains on transfer. It was closed most of the morning, but was up and running in the afternoon. I heard nothing about it valleying all day. I rode it twice yesterday: the first not bad but not very good, so we decided to ride again because there was about 5 people in the station waiting. The second ride was slow and rough we barely made it up to the MCBR and the trim felt like it held us for a few seconds on the hill.
