MAY 10

I plan on being there...

So are a lot of other people. Check the Opening Day 2008 thread.

Nah I think we need a second thread. I mean this is just May 10th....

I plan on leaving Grand Haven, Michigan (or Holland, Michigan) at 4:00 A.M at the latest eastern standard time zone. Getting to the park early to get in line (4.5 hour drive still) and getting in the season pass line.

I will stay at the bayshore camping ground, and we're checking out the "mini mobile homes".

So we'll see how those are for a night, they are cheap, and I hope to maybe....check out Put-In-Bay this time the night of May 10th.
I've never been there so maybe. The park is only open till like 8pm or something on the 10th anyways right? Plenty of time to go out for a drink or two and have some dinner.

Go for the 11th for another day of riding with the majority of what seems to be "open seasoners" who are staying the night.

I hope it isn't too busy both days really. But anything is better than those July-close times right?

If you need to get a Platinum Pass, go up to Michigan's Adventure. It'll save you the wait in the Season Pass line. I'm heading up there probably Thursday morning.

Oh, Daylight Savings began a few weeks ago.

But do Michigan Adventure platinum passes give me point perks and early CP entry?

I go to MCC everyday of the week, and will continue to go 2 days a week this summer. So it isn't like I am far from MIA.

Yes, a CF platinum pass (regardless of which park it was purchased at) gets you Point Perks and early entry.

Well thats some good news guys.

The weather on weather.com is up to the 8th of May, and while the weather slowly has morphed in to better or worse last year and being this far out you can only just "take a stab at it". It looks like rain is a possibility the weekdays before opening weekend. Lets hope we get the rain streak done with during the weekdays and we get a nice break in the weather system for some mid 60's sunny opening weekend weather.

And even if you have already bought your voucher from CP, you can take it to Michigan's Adventure and get your Platinum Pass processed.

No passes yet, but it makes sense to go get them before opening day so I don't have to stand in that horribly long line at CP on opening day (even if the process is improved, I would rather not add to the congestion).

This year my girlfriend and I plan on "switching sides" as funny as it sounds. I never noticed it but I always board the coaster first and ride on the right hand side (every time). So needless to say I'm riding left hand side of TTD this May 10th.

I need to call Bayshore and reserve one of them mini-cabins soon here also. I can't believe its this close (season opening).
I can't believe in less than 2 weeks there will be an opening crew of probably 2000-3000+ employees all coordinated working harmoniously.
Can you imagine being in HR and doing all this hiring?
I am not sure what I want to do the first thing in CP this year........

What are you guys going to kick the season off with? Maverick, MF, Skyhawk, Iron Dragon? Or are you going to just walk the park for a while?

Magnum. That's what I do first every year (even if my first trip isn't until September like last year).

Being that I enter through the SC gate, Maggie's usually my first as well.

But ERT doesn't have Magnum I thought.

The thought of "wasting time" (yeah I know its sad..I consider it wasting time haha) and not being in a coaster line just makes me say....you know I could be waiting to ride that beast.

Eh, you meet at the gate, wait for it to open, talk with Jerry for a little while, BS with the op, laugh at the people sprinting by, and then you get to enjoy your ride.

And while not an ERT ride, they usually open a little early.

Yeah thats me sprinting. It's a marathon. I bet I've made my girlfriend walk 5 miles easy in one day.
To be fair I've only made us run a handful of times.

Or you don't necessarily make it in time for ERT.

I think I am doing 77mph on the turn pike before I miss an ERT.

There are enough cops on the routes we take to make you consider not speeding though.

Plus I have tinted windows which I need to get fixed because I am sure like in Michigan, Ohio doesn't enjoy front window tint.
Only adds to the list of reasons to pull me over. You would think I would go take that window tint off now....but I am not.

djDaemon's avatar

Why bother? I'm getting mine tinted, and I live in Michigan.

And ERT is less of a big deal when you go on the right days. And no, May 10th is not one of them.

A little while back someone mentioned some music festival that could contribute to larger than normal opening day crowds this year. Does anyone have information or experience with this? or know when the kids will start invading the park?

Fight the Shapers . . . Join the Resistance . . .
Save Humanity!

I can't wait to use my new Sony DSC-T70 camera at the park this year, it is much smaller than my DSC-W50.

It can easilllly fit in my pocket (not that the old camera couldn't).
