Does anyone know WHY it was/is down?

Brandon

I was told they had an electrical fire but who knows what really was going on. Obviously something is wrong with the ride but it will be back up next season.

278 coasters and still counting!

Coaster Freak I also heard that the electronics fried out.

okay, I created an account so that I could reply to this topic. I worked literally next to maXair all summer long.

1) If you have a ride that seats 50 people, the wait will not be very long. The ride lasts, what, 3 minutes? (5 if you include securing seats, talking over the PA, etc.) The lines weren't long because people knew they could get on and off the ride in an hour, tops, mainly all summer.

2) maXair ended up being closed the last two weekends of the season. (I didn't see anyone say anything about it, so I'm mentioning it here.) I never heard the reason, so that's still up for debate. **I think it was more feasible for them to put off fixing it until after the season. I can't speak for the Maintenance crew, so take that as an educated guess.**

3) The amount of down time was considerably less than TTD. I should know. All I hear are screams from satisfied guests riding the ride. I had guests come to my location asking why TTD was closed. I had to tell them "I didn't even know it was closed" several times this summer.

4) If my memory serves me correctly, there was an electrical problem (I do believe I heard something about a transformer, or a fuse.. I'm not sure) and it took the better part of 3 weeks to get to CP.***This was in reference to Wicked Twister, not maXair***

I hope this eases the collective minds of the readers of this topic.

I've posted it another thread, but it was down due to a (small?) fire in the electrical room on the next to last Friday of the season. When I went that Saturday I was told by one of the crew members that was working on another ride in that zone that the ride was down due to a fire of sorts in the electrical room. This was also confirmed by someone else I saw later that day. As for the down time, there was very little, especially considering Delirium's history with down time and what might of happened had that problem not been fixed with maXair. The floor was a bit of a pain sometimes, as were some other things; but it ran great for the greater part of the season.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Wasn't there a fire there during it's construction? I remember hearing about a fire near Maxair when they were building it.

It made the PB news section but the fire really didn't do much, and no, it wasn't caused by any mechanical problems. Basically sparks from some grinding that was going on caught something else on fire. This shows how whimpy this fire was:

"Sandusky firefighters were called, but the fire had already been knocked down with fire extinguishers by the time they arrived."

Fire extinguishers...so it must not have been anything major, and later in the article it said that damage totaled at about $1,000
