Rather boring compared to the others if you ask me...

I would agree. It really dragged on for a while...

But there isn't that much "burst" power required for TTD. The energy is needed to pressurize the motors, however thats a draw that is needed over the 45 second (or however long, I'm not Adam or Gomez, or Gomez Adams). WT needs a 4-5 second burst of the line each time a train is launched through the station. So its really not that surprising.

Wicked Twister charges before the train launches, it takes 60 seconds to charge the LIM's. after that it just releases the energy as the train passes.

At least thats what we were told.

Maybe that is anouther reason TTD did not use LIM, because TTD is suppose to launch every 30 seconds.

TTD uses hydraulics for space and power. The system was also created for how quiet it works. Sound isn't a worry for CP, but Xcelerator at Knott's is literally a couple feet from a main road.

Which is louder at Cedar Point Wicked Twisted or Top Thrill Dragster?

Our brakes droping at Dragster can be loud and the sound of the catchcar brakes dropping are even louder at times

Looks like the webcams are down this morning. Appears to be a script error.

EDIT: Looks like they got it fixed. *** Edited 11/16/2006 2:34:06 PM UTC by gotigers1***

^^That’s true, the pneumatics are pretty loud. The sound of the LIMs firing is louder than Dragsters launch in general, but the sound of the catch car hitting the brakes (as well as them raising and lowering) is louder than WT's. It's a good thing I love Dragster enough to not have those sounds bothering me.....especially when I'm right next to the fence in the morning.:)

Try talking to people entering the line and telling them that they cant have loose articles well all the sounds are going on!!!! I have worked WT and there is alot less noise there.

I think its funny when a train launches and you are talking to them as soon as it passes they start to talk again I look at them and say one more sound now!! and the catch car brakes release... you get some strange looks!!!!!

I miss working her!!

When the catch car brakes go up, when I'm talking to someone, I'll stop in mid sentence and say "Catch car brakes!". Then when the launch brakes go down (keep in mind Im still talking), I'll count down 4 seconds with my fingers (STILL talking) then point, without looking, to a train launching. I get weird looks from doing that as well.:)

I also get weird looks when I sing my Dragster version of the Dem Bones song. I sing it mostly to annoy my friend. :)

The train is connected to the, catchcar
The catchcars connected to the, cables
The cables are connected to the, drum (drawn out like "dra um")
The drum is connected to an, axle
The axle's connected to a, gear box (I know theres 2)
The gear box is connected to, motors
The motors are connected to, hoses
The hoses are connected to a hydraulic reservoir and nitrogen accumulators!

Adam, I'm not sure what to say.

I really don't.

It's not even December yet and we have people singing.

I can just see it now. There will be a Cedar Point version of "The 12 Days of Christmas" within a day or two, I bet.

Back on topic, I'm not sure I liked this video either, but not because it was boring. More like it doesn't really promote the family image that the park is trying to portray. Now, I know it's set in the Old West and gunslinging battles are what make Westerns good, but it seems as if this may have been just a bit over the top for the family image. *** Edited 11/17/2006 1:56:07 PM UTC by Jeff Young***
