If you go to the POV of Magnum on Cedar Point's website, if you look and listen really carefully at the end on the last tunnel you can see the lights and kinda hear sound effects.

Or like smoke in a certain tunnel?
That smoke was working later on opening day.:)

If anyone wants to get soaked by that pond water, I'd be more than happy to offer a helping hand. :)
I had a rather interesting time on opening day with Magnum... The ride shut down and minutes later some guy crazy guest came down yelling "Rides Closed! There smoke in the Tunnel! Rides Closed!" "I Want my time back, where is my free ride!"

Seems kinda strange the pond isnt filled more yet. I dont know how the water bombs will work without the water, but ya never know i guess

Yesterday, when I was there, they were hand filling the water bombs. It was interesting to watch.

Well, the ride doesn't open until tomorrow. I'm sure they're still doing last minute tweaks on things. There's no sense in filling the pond again if there's any chance of it possibly needing drained.
i think the water effect will be much like that of Sheikra's (and now Griffon, as well) in that it might get you a little misted, but not soaked, I really hope it looks as cool as this one does...
Unfortunately, I don't think Maverick is set-up for that. That effect is created by cylinders attached to each train. The cylinders are mounted at (approx) a 45-degree angle. The cans actually dip into the water by a few inches and divert the water up through the other end.
Maverick has neither the cans on the trains nor close enough contact with water.

That concept is so interesting, it must add a bit of drag to the trains, and watching videos of it, you can see it slow just a bit as it goes through the water portion. It looks so cool though.

I still find it ironic the very first steel tubular track coaster in the world used a water splashdown as a braking method and it took until very recently to see that again.
