Maverick Trains

Well I'm sure Mavericks OTSRs will be just as comfortable as
MaXair, and Iron Dragon. Both are very smooth, but Iron Dragon you can expect that. MaXair, I know it's not a coaster, but the ride is very comfortable.

Obviously You have never been on Storm Runner or Kingda Ka...

Although they do look a little more on the padded side then the other Intamin OTSR's

Thy Kingdom Come. Thy will be done

And the OTSR controversy begins. Personally, I hate them! I have never ridden a coaster with this style OTSR, but I hate feeling like I have to strain to hold my head against the seat just to enjoy the ride.... we shall see come may I guess

Actually I think this is round 2 or 3 of the OTSR controversy.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I've only ridden Kingda Ka and Rita: Queen of Speed so far with this type OTSR. I didn't have any headbanging on either one, even though LOTS of Alton Towers fan boys complain about the restraints. Some even say they've caused them to bleed. LOL!!

I think they'll be fine.

I think that KK and and Stormrunner are like guinea pigs for OTSRs. Maverick's are just improvements that the designers over at Intamin decided to do.

You guys are just off in some Winter Retreat. I don't even know where you are.

The OTSR's secure you where a restraint should: Your lap. The over-the-shoulder part is largely cosmetic to make you (and insurance companies) feel better. It doesn't really do anything functional.

Well said! I have been on Storm Runner and barely noticed the difference, but it did seem like lap bars would have made it feel a tad more thrilling, so we shall see about Maverick come this may...

I had a bizarre dream last night. I was watching Maverick from over near the train station. The construction fence was gone, and in its place was a low, picket-type fence.

As I watched, a hand cart -- the kind they used to use on railroads, like in Blazing Saddles -- came rolling by on the track. It was going about ten miles an hour and squeaking as it went. In my dream I said, "Hey, great! They're starting the testing for the track!"

And then a Matterhorn train with three cars rolled by, running about twenty miles hour and barely clearing the inversions. In the dream it didn't seem odd at all.

Just had to share. :)

You've been exposed to just a bit too much dilithium radiation my friend. Just a bit too much.

Oh ho, like you've never had a bizarre dream in your life? Guess those prescription sedatives are really doing the trick. ;)

Yes, but I usually try to keep them secret. Besides, is being chased by giant broccoli REALLY that strange of a dream? Dangit, now I must kill anyone who reads this.....this could get messy.

Good grief....

The broccoli represents repressed thoughts of not wanting to grow up. Eating your green vegetables is a cornerstone of leaving your youth behind & doing what is good for you whether you like it or not.

Stop riding rides at amusement parks & start taking responsibilty for your life. Besides...it will make the lines shorter for the rest of us.
