I didn't think there was any steel coaster with "Trick Track".
I was under the assumption it was exclusively on wooden coasters where it originated.
I guess I was wrong...hrmph

Ride on, MrScott!
Trick track is where the track suddenly banks one direction (and sometimes the other like on Shivering Timbers, or not like on the Villain) while the track keeps going straight. Maverick doesn't have that. Yeah, it has lots of quick banking, but it turns at the same time.
And the general description of that would be to just simply call it a form of "trick track". Obviously trick track can be many different things.

The only ride I know of using it is Shivering Timbers and it is hidden under the lift hill supports. If there is a picture of it, it from a off limits area.

That is a picture of Storm Runner's trick track section. A sudden change in direction and then maintains its course. Maverick has lots of elements where direction is changed rather quickly and unexpectedly. Though it may not be directly related to this kind of trick track, I still classify it as a form of it. *** Edited 12/23/2006 5:51:46 AM UTC by Bootz3456***

Villain also has a trick track. And it wouldn't be hard to snap a picture of the trick track from the parking lot I wouldn't think.
Plus they had walkbacks a few times on Timbersfest in past years.
No, bootz, that is not trick track - the track is turning at those points and banking really quickly. Trick track banks like that, but the track itself still goes in a perfectly straight line - no turns.

Here's a nice example.

The original idea of it was to throw unsuspecting riders back and forth, because unless you know it's coming, it's hard to see. Heartlining it kind of defeats that purpose...stupid Intamin...
Even though the track does not continue in a straight line, it can still be considered a form of trick track. What else could that element on Storm Runner be considered? Pointless Banking?

I'm pretty sure that banking on Storm Runner is just supposed to be a thrilling, surprising maneuver, which I think is really really cool I might add.

It's pretty cool, though it hurts your neck when you bang on the OTSR.

How'd you know!?:)
Actually, what gets me most about that picture is the absence of safety gates.

That's not that much of an oddity, there's places in PA that don't have safety gates too.

CP was a late adopter to the whole safety gate thing. I remember as a kid going to Busch Gardens and thinking the safety gates were the best thing. Not just for safety, but for letting people know when to board. I always thought it sped up the lines a great deal. I always wondered why CP didn't have the gates. I don't remember Raptor or Mantis having the gates when they opened. But I could be wrong.
What was the first ride at CP to have safety gates when it opened? (Not added later.) *** Edited 12/25/2006 5:39:42 AM UTC by halltd***
