I really haven't had any problems the 16 times I rode it, and I even have the restraint as loose as I can by pushing my legs up, and arms are up the whole time

I've learned that when I wear my hoodie over my shoulders it doesnt hurt at all. It's like extra padding. =P

I've learned that when I wear my foam suit with full-body padding and pillows inside of that, it doesn't hurt at all either!

My shoulders didn't hurt much, but my jaw was sore. I've rode it twice and am learning which way to lean. Mantis and Meanstreak can hurt you too, if you're not familiar with which way to lean.

The first time I rode it, it kind of threw me around a little. The 2nd time I rode it though, I anticipated the turns and it really helped. The only place I had a problem is coming out of the tunnel, because you can't see where the track banks.

I rode last Sunday. The first time in the back seat which was no problem... loved it.
Rode later that night in the front seat. Hated it. First ride I've ridden where the front was rougher than the back.
Was fine until the turn out of the tunnel, I think every joint in my neck cracked the one way and at that top of hill out of the tunnel, my neck cracked the other way.
I'll stick with the back which is where I ride most coasters anyways.

Only had one ride, and that was in the front. If you say the back is better, then I can't wait to try it out Sunday!

Now, come to think of it, I remember my neck giving a little crack or two on the pond portion of the ride...

If you check out my trip report from June 21st and 22nd, you'll see that i think i figured out how to ride this thing. The head-banging ( or on me it was neck-banging) is caused by the looseness of the restraints around the neck region. I found that if I put my elbows against the back of the car, my hands in front me in the restraints and pushed out, it caused the restraints to flatten around my neck. This in turn stopped the problems. After a couple of rides, I was able to determine when to push out with a little more force and when to just hold my arms there. Without a doubt though, Maverick is not a ride you can hold your hands up on. I absolutely love its intensity from start to finish but its not one of my favorite rides because its just not comfortable enough for me. I put in on par with Raptor at CP as I simply enjoy Millie, Maggie, and TTD more. I don't really like having to "work" to be comfortable in a ride. It is much more intense than its two competitors (Griffon and Myster Mine) for "Best New Ride" and I can see it winning that award. I would put Griffon slightly ahead of it however. I admit to being a CP fanboy but I love those dive machines!!

Dive machines are good the first time, but I have yet to ride one that thrilled me after the first ride.

I have an idea. Tough it out and put your arms up anyway! That's the only way to ride. kapow. *** Edited 7/6/2007 7:26:31 PM UTC by Dvo***

I finally got to ride Maverick today and it was Excellent...I tried leaning foward first and I noticed you will get banged up this way and i am 5'9. I leaned my head back against the headrest like riders are suppose to and I found out my ride was So much better...This ride is very Intense with the speed and turns calculated into each other "some" of us smaller riders should take note to keep the head back against the head rest for a most enjoyable ride!

Then I noticed on the front of each train that the rider harnesses are covered in bugs,,,Ewww! LOL..

The 5th and 6th were my first rides on maverick. I had four total and all i have are some small red lines. It probably is because all of my rides were in the front row.

I'm new here but figure I'll post a pic of my shoulder after maverick. Was a lot more red after we went on it a 2nd time. This picture was taken on June 2nd. Just getting excited since I'm going back July 19th and 20th :)

This ride needs no help to excite its riders, I rode a few times with my arms up and found it was the same as putting my arms down. But when I put my arm down, I don't budge from the center of the seat until I get to that extreme twist after the launch tunnel.

I honestly don't touch the shoulder harnesses at all and I love the fact that its not tight to the body. The force pushing me into the seat seems to be enough to not even have to have shoulder harnesses. Maybe its built perfectly for me.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

I would agree about the thrill factor on the B&M dive machines. But every time i have ridden Sheikra the back row airtime is amazing. That is the one thing that always impresses me.

after you've ridden it enough times you can have you hands up on the entire ride. knowing the layout and ridding with the coaster is what it's all about

When some people put their hands up, the harness is incredibly uncomfortable on their shoulders/arms. So, even if you know the layout, it's still a pain - literally.

I have one thing to say:

Keep arms down, head back, and hold on!!!

Simple instructions, no bruises. I've been on the ride 40+ times and I have no marks.
