Back on the topic of the opening...Don't you think Cedar Point would give more notice than 1 or 2 days. I mean you would think they want as many people as possible there for the Opening. Also I think the Red Cross would need more than that to notify the high bidders. People would have to make plans to get out there. Some of the bidders might be from different parts of the country and would have to make travel arrangments.
The Red Cross told me they would call as soon as they knew when it was. But, that if we couldn't make it, we could retract our bid. Then they'd go down the list of bidders who were knocked out of contention until they got back to 72 riders.

Check the thread here.
Thank you, I just read the entire thread. It's great to see how the community came together to donate over $2,000 so MrScott could have a ride in the front seat of Maverick.

Ride on, MrScott!
I would really like to attend the Maverick opening, however, I already have plans. I guess I'll have to try and attend Coastermania.

In this case, I think the short notice was the best way for them to handle it. They probably didn't know that everything was going to work correctly until very recently (I'd guess today). Plus, delaying the opening of the ride just to give notice to the enthusiasts is not good PR.
