Yeah and for anyone I suggest not using the front gate for early entry (any day). For one, everyone is let through the gate at 9:00am. This can get really confusing to a lot of people, but the early entry people have to go down the midway past Demon Drop, while the "crowd" is held up with moveable gates just before Raptor entrance. Then there are the early entry people who are trying to get through the large crowd to be let through while everyone else looks mad. But it's fun moving the gate at 10 and then watching everyone just pour right out!
I would say if you got to the Marina gate 30 minutes early then you're fine since there's never that many people, but If you want to be the very first then yeah definitely an hour or more earlier than it opens.

The gates all use the National Anthem and God Bless America to know when to let people in. Since the music is played all through the park at the same time, all the gates open simultaneously.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
It's more fun to run to Millennium Force on opening day. For the exercise and well to me it's a tradition.
Ill be at the Magnum Gate, to hit Maverick, then MF and then TTD as the full park opens :). Of course, neither of these will be my first coasters of the year, that honor will go to the one and only Beast two weeks prior to CP opening :).
The weather at Kings Island gets warmer earlier than it does at Cedar Point.
Kings Island's employee base is mainly local students who are able to work the first few weekends. Cedar Point's employees are college students coming from many different areas of the country who have finals up until the last week of April.

Or if you're like my friend from Niagara, finals aren't until May. :)
As for Kings Island, like Gomez said, a lot of their workers are local, so they "have it easy" when it comes to picking up employees in the early and late parts of the season.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
The only thing I love about going through the Resort gates is its proximity to (of course) Dragster and Maverick. As for the times which they let people in, all I can say is that, last opening day, I was at the resort gates at 6am, was at the front of the line AND first to enter the park BUT, somehow, there was already a line at Dragster! Needless to say I wasn't happy getting the 4th train of the season because of the line that had miraculously formed when the people getting through the resort gates SHOULD be the first to get to Dragster.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the other gates were not "with it" compared to the front gate. We saw several people run past from the front of the park while we were still waiting. Of course, no one waited much longer after about 6 people ran past...

^This is what I had read about in other posts from years past. That some of the other gates were later than the main one. Wonder if the offseason work at the gates will help to remedy that problem? Why are the employees at the gates not "with it" as BlueStreak64 put it?
Nick
Is it really a problem? Who cares if you're the 1st, 5th or 50th in line? You're still getting on the ride within a matter of minutes.
Brandon
Its not really a problem, but if I'm walking around to the marina gate for the sole purpose of gettting in line ahead of people from the main gate, my extra effort is pointless if they get in enough ahead of me to be near that part of the park (or in line) before I even go through the marina gate (same principle applies to resort gate).
Don't get me wrong....I'm not gonna get pissed off if I'm not there first...just something I want to try.
Nick
That is the difference between a casual user such as yourself, and a junkie like me. I don't want people in line ahead of me. From my perspective the perfect day at the point would be me and maybe 100 other people. I get my fun from the rides not the people. Don't get me wrong, I am not some psychopath loser that hates people. Its just that when it comes to amusement parks I am there to ride not interact with people. The best Raptor ride I have ever had was a solo ride meaning I was the only person on the entire train. Same goes with Shiekra. Just me, the coaster, and the sound of the wind. Most people just don't understand my point of view.
^ I guess I don't understand. 100 people in a park the size of CP and you might as well be there by all by yourself (which you would enjoy). For me, as a coaster enthuasiast and also an avid people watcher, I enjoy a crowd and a few lines. A 10 to 15 minute wait is almost perfect....time to relax and enjoy the people in line, and not too long so that at the end of the day I feel like I've just stood in line all day.
Nick
You are right - being alone in the place would seem perfect for me. But I need some people just so the place doesn't seem scary. I caught Geagau Lake on a real slow day and it seemed like something out of a horror movie - there was literally no one else walking around. Gave me the creeps.
I actually don't ride as much as I used to just two years ago, except for my "power riding" sessions on maXair (I still want to top 21 rides in a day this season :) ). People watching can be a lot of fun at the park.
As for being the first in line; I'd like to actually get that spot some time. The closest I've gotten was being 4th in line and being on the first public ride on Skyhawk. Oh well, getting a few quick rides in the morning before the lines get crazy is all I really care about. After that, its mainly people watching, seeing shows, and taking pictures.

^If you are "jonesin" for the 1st in line title, Iron Dragon is on the early entry ride list for 2008, is not far from the marina gate, and I doubt many people will be sprinting to it! :)

I'll just never understand what "OMG ferstz0rz!1!!!11! means.
I thought we were speaking in English around here.
