This would give us a shorter jaunt to MF.

Also, last year, my dad and I went to the toll booth all the way to the left and the parking toll-taker asked us if we were going to soak city. We said no, and the woman told us to park in main parking. Can you still go to the Soak City lot if you do not intend on going to Soak city?

I know I am resurrecting an old thread here, but I did a search and the info I found brought up a new question that I couldn't find an answer for in the old threads.
My question: Did anyone here use the Marina gate last season and did it open at the same time as the main gate? I saw a whole bunch posts that it didn't open until later in the past. Just wondering what the M.O. was last season.
Nick
Last year we walked over to the Marina gate from the parking lot so we could be closer to MF at opening. They opened at the same time as the main gate.
I didn't do the Marina Gate as much as I did 2 years ago. But the Marina Gate is supposed to open at the same time as the other gates. What annoys me is that they aren't as good at checking for "Joe Cool" aka "Point Perks" at the Marina and Resort Gates. I think they tend to assume that if your at that gate, you must be a resort guest.Additionally, unless I read the Alex's post wrong, I think he was asking if your allowed to park in the lot near the marina. And the answer to that is no. Unless your going to Famous Dave's or you have a boat. I think that's the lot he was talking about. There is a guard posted at that lot as well as the resort lot. When going to the Marina Gate, I will drive as if I'm going around to Soak City, and then park as far up and tho the left as I can. If your there before the park opens, you can usually get pretty close. From there, you have to walk the rest of the way. After you pas the marked lot near Blue Streak, there is a Marked Blue path you can follow to the Marina Gate.

How long of a walk is it to the Marina gate from the main parking lot?....I'm thinking maybe 5 to 10 minutes, but I've never been back Perimeter road, so that is just a guess.
Nick
I would say that's a pretty good estimate, depending on how close you're parked to the walkway and how quickly you walk.

I always walk fairly quickly and I will probably be there solo, so there will not be anyone to complain about me walking too fast. Plus I am gonna try to get there early enough to get a parking spot pretty close. I'd like to be the first person through that Marina gate, and to MF. I don't know why, just a crazy personal goal. :)
Nick
Haha, you may have to get there crazily early, like 6 am if that's your goal. Last year before we knew that Maverick wasn't going to be open on time some friends and I made plans to be at the Magnum gate (shortest rout to Maverick, I walked it off in 2006) by 6:30. Well, once we found out Maverick wasn't going to open, we decided to meet at the same time because we already had plans, only we met at the Marina gate instead to try and be the first ones on MF. Point in case: My friends and a few other people I know that go opening day every year are crazy and will be there at a gate at 6:30 in the morning. My tip if you do that is to bring some donuts and drinks with you so you can have breakfast. :)
Luckily, this year you won't have to worry about beating me, since I'll be working. My friends though...well, I guess you'll find out, because I don't know what they're doing. ;)

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
